Harbouring on Illegal

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I do not own Midsomer Murders or it's two awesome stars, (I prefer the Troy era)

Plot: Troy has once again been sent on one of Barnaby's harbouring on illegal searches, but this time was caught by the local police. Just a little fun about Barnaby coming and getting him.

Chief Inspector Barnaby sat at his desk, waiting for his young Sergeant to return to the station with the evidence they needed to convict the main suspect of a particularly bad breaking and entering and wilful damage in Midsomer Worthy.

Barnaby leaned back in his chair and groaned out loud, "Where the hell is he?" Troy should of returned over an hour ago, but the young Sergeant had obviously made good on his promise in finding every shred of evidence there was.

He decided that he better call him, and see what was taking so long just in case something had happened. But when he reached over for the phone on his desk, it rang.

Barnaby picked it up and said, "Yes?"

At the other end of the line there seemed to be two separate arguments, one sounding like a loud brawl and another involving a voice he knew well.

"Listen mate, believe it or not, I am a police officer and I know that prisoners have a right to one phone call, now if you don't mind, I am trying to exhaust that right," announced Gavin Troy irritably.

"Troy, is that you?" asked Barnaby, the urgency of this situation the only thing stop himself from laughing himself sick.

"Yes sir it's me. Do you remember when you asked me to do 'a little breaking and entering', I said that I should have a warrant. I was right."

"What happened Troy?" sighed Barnaby, rubbing the bridge of his nose irritably.

"Well I went in sir, like you said to. But one of the neighbours called the police, and then they came in, and it would appear that left my badge in your car, and- will you just come and get me please?!"

Barnaby couldn't help but laugh now, Troy replied impatiently, "This is not funny sir."

"Of course it isn't Troy, where are you? I'm coming."

Barnaby drove into the parking space at Midsomer Worthy police station, and stepped out of the car. It was a rather old establishment, with the offices on one side of the car park and the holding cell on the other. Barnaby walked over to the offices.

Inside there was a small collection of desks and a large amount of filing cabinets taking up the majority of the area, however he was able to weave his way through to a plump senior Sergeant, with dirty blonde hair and a tired expression.

"What can I do for you sir?" he asked, in a rehearsed way.

Barnaby opened his mouth to answer, but just then there was a loud commotion outside the door, and then a policeman came in, with none other than a handcuffed Troy.

"This ones starting fights sir," he announced, not taking in Barnaby's presence.

Troy looked angrily over his shoulder at the police officer and then back to Barnaby saying, "Sir, I did not start the fight."

"Well how did it start then Troy?" asked Barnaby, once again trying to keep the amusement out of his voice.

Troy glared angrily over his shoulder at the constable, and announced, "Apparently all of the other prisoners realise that I am a Detective Sergeant, and the police don't"

"Oh not this codswallop again, young man, I have not seen many twenty something sergeants in my time," sighed the Senior Sergeant at the desk.

"Sir, please will you tell him that I am?" asked Troy, almost pleading.

Barnaby rolled his eyes at the young Sergeant and announced, "He is a Detective Sergeant, Here's his badge."
