Severus fell onto his knees, tears pouring down his cheeks. The blackened ruins of a house surrounded him, encasing him like a prison.
Sobs racked his body, and his black eyes were dull with pain.
"Lily," he choked out, her name filled with sorrow and regret, an abyss of never ending agony.
He fell onto his back as snowflakes drifted on top of him, the melted ones mixing with his tears.
"I'm so sorry."
Severus stared at the boy in front of him. He reminded Severus of his sworn enemy, except his eyes. Harry's eyes were her eyes, with the same kindness in them.
"Off with you, Potter," Severus said sharply, to disguise the pain in his voice.
Harry left just in time, because as soon as the door slammed shut, a single tear traced down Severus's cheek.
Severus stood at the top of the tower, looking into to the wise blue eyes of the person who taught him so much. The person who comforted him, helped him, and guided him.
His kind blue eyes looked at Severus, hidden by his glasses.
Severus hated himself so much at that moment it was like a fire, causing excruciating pain.
"Avada Kadavra!"
Severus looked into Harry's, her eyes, and saw kindness, hope, love. She was there with him. Waiting for him.
Finally his eyes closed and his last thought was:
Lily.
