Boq had heard about the governor's daughter before—she'd been written about in newspapers before. Some reporters said that she was a horrible, spoiled brat, but others claimed that she was the sweetest, kindest person they'd ever met.
And when Boq sees Nessarose Thropp on the first day at Shiz, he's sure he should only believe the people saying she's sweet. She has a smile that's almost magnetic, drawing him closer and closer to her. Her excitement is pouring out of her so intensely he can almost feel it. Boq needs to be close to this girl.
As soon as Nessa is away from her sister, Boq steps up to introduce himself to her. "Hello, Miss Nessarose. I'm—" And that's when Galinda Upland shows up, and Boq forgets all about Nessa.
