Exquisite
A One Shot by AngolMoaChan
Hehe, you can't get rid of me for very long! XDShe was exquisite.
Her features exotic, her dancing hypnotic. Simple white fabric flatters her generous curves, and whispers a tune of melodious whispers and swirls, purity against untainted and strikingly dark skin.
She could have any man she wanted.
But she wanted him.
He was mysterious.
He refused to allow anyone a glimpse of his past. He clings to the tattered memories of a life once known, a security blanket during a time of war, hate, and murder. His golden hair and eyes made him stick out from the crowd: they screamed "Color!" in a sea of drab grays, but what he wanted most was to return back to that colorful world he called "home."
And he would never return her affection, and it took a dream reading to know why.
She saw her.
She radiated beauty.
Not the outer kind: although she seemed pretty in a plain sort of way. In fact, her own curvaceous figure was probably infinitely preferred to most men, but not to him.
No, it was not "Noah" he whispered in his sleep.
It was not "Noah" who he spoke of sometimes, his amber orbs softened in remembrance.
No, it was not "Noah" who's name filled his dreams and cleaned the worry lines from his forehead.
It was her name. It was "Winry".
He loved her. Not Noah. She just knew. His dreams were filled with azure-blue eyes, a cheerful smile, a childish nickname, and the occasional silver monkey wrench. She listened to his thoughts, the simple and melancholy statements giving her goosebumps.
"I wonder how she's doing…"
"I never said goodbye…"
But of all those, one always seemed to stick out.
"I never got the chance to tell Winry I loved her…"
It was when Ed left them forever, back into the arms of his "Winry" that she began to notice him a little more.
He was exquisite to her.
The man was like paper; a fluttering loose-leaf compared to Edward's anvil of attitude. He loved flowers and animals, even though he was allergic to his favorites, the stray cats he saved from the pouring rain. His eyes showed all of his emotions: he chose to keep his voice shy and reserved and let those teal eyes do the talking for him.
And it amazed Noah; the way Alfons Heidrich wanted nothing more than to touch the stars.
She knew her love for Edward would never be returned. After all, there were no sparks when she looked at him, no butterflies when he smiled. (This was a rarity anyway…) He was completely oblivious to her feminine charms and he was completely faithful to that Winry, the girl from his dreams.
But as she spent more time with Alfons, Noah discovered she liked a lot of things about the shy rocket scientist. Maybe it was his melodious laugh or the passion he had for his work.
Whatever it was, something about him made her heart flutter
Maybe it was called love.
