I push forward, sweat rolling down my face with my heart pounding so fast. Just 20 more meters. I'm just a few meters away from the first runner. Bethany. Forcing myself to run faster, I pass her and run across the finish line. I hear the roaring of the crowd fade away as I faint into nothingness...

I wake up in the sick bay with my forehead burning hot. "Finally you're awake. I didn't want to disturb you," Amy says with a worried look on her face. "I'm fine," I say, but really I'm not. "What happened?" I ask her. "You fainted after you won the race, well done champ," she says. "Thanks," I say. The nurse walks in and looks at me worriedly. She walks over to me and feels my forehead. "You're burning, here take this ice pack and hold it to your forehead. You can go," She gives me an ice pack and I hold it to my forehead. As I head out the door Amy follows me and whispers "For some reason, she creeps me out,"

At lunch everyone looks at me and chatters to their friends. They are probably talking about how I won against the school's fastest runner. Bethany glared at me from the other side of the deck. Now that I have won and she has lost, I am her sworn enemy. My life will be hell now because she'll try anything to break me. And I know the weapon she will use. Rosalia, my sweet little sister.

When I reach home, I don't look at my mother. I try to avoid her gaze and concentrate on Rosalia. I give her a hug and kiss her on the forehead. "Did you have a good day at school?" I ask her. "I sure did! I know you won the race against that mean girl!" she says excitedly. "Will you be famous?" she asks, he big brown eyes sparkle with curiosity. "Um...yeah, at my school I will!" I say, I didn't want her to break down or anything. She jumps up and down in delight.

The next morning I wake up at 6:00. I put on some clothes and boots and head out the main door quietly. Sometimes I just like to go for a walk to clear my mind of everything. It happens to be raining when I start to walk, but I don't mind. I love the rain. It's so peaceful, the light drops of water land on my face, making me feel cool and free.

I start to run, run nowhere. I don't know where I am going, but I am sure I can find my way back home. I soon get tired, but my legs refuse to stop. I push on and my legs and feet start to hurt. I am still going. I don't know what's happening...there is a power in my body, urging me to run faster. All I can see now is the fog swirling around me, and I notice that it is no longer raining.

I suddenly feel weak, I can't run anymore. My legs give out and I stumble to the ground and pass out.

My eyes flutter open, Rosalia is standing over me with my mother just slightly in view. "You're awake!" cries Rosalia. "What...what happened?" I say, my mind is completely blank. "You were thrashing around. You were about to fall out of bed and your face was really sweaty, then you passed out!" Rosalia cries.

"It must have been a bad dream, Rosa," I say calmly. The last thing I want is for Rosalia to get worried. "What time is it?" I ask. "It's 7:00pm! I was worried about you because you stayed in your room the whole day," says Rosalia, still not convinced that I am okay. "7:00! Rosalia go to bed, I'm fine. Don't get worried, I'm fine," I repeat.

"Okay..." Rosalia says hesitantly. She leaves my room, which leaves my wide eyed mother standing in the doorway. We make eye contact then she hurries away to make sure Rosalia gets to bed.

What in the world? That dream felt so...realistic. When I move my legs, I find them aching and weak, just like after I ran. It couldn't be real. Or could it?
