Either I Kill Your or You Kill Me

AN: Hey guys! Really short one shot here that I just came up with, could be longer, but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. Thanks for reading!

"Do you know why I asked you to come here Nico?" Percy asked the son of Hades. "Why not Annabeth or Jason or someone else? Are any of those thoughts running through your mind?"

"Yes." Nico admitted. "I mean we never really have conversations, and we aren't close, so yeah, why are you talking to me?" He inquired.

"Because I feel as if you may be the only one who understands me. You went through Tartarus too, you saw those horrors, you know what it's like."

Nico's eyes widened. "But what about Annabeth. She was with you too." He stated.

Percy sighed. "Yes she was with me, but she wasn't… all there. She wasn't exactly awake for any of it. She thinks she was, the gods think she was, but then, why doesn't she get the nightmares. Because anything she thought she saw in there wasn't real, and everything in there was one-hundred times worse than what she thinks."

Nico's eyes squinted, trying to process this knowledge. "But then why do she and the gods think she was awake."

Percy winced. "I tampered with her memory a bit. Hazel taught me some memory charms."

"And the gods?"

"They're easy to manipulate. They may be the most powerful beings in their pantheon, but they're stupid, they're irrational and selfish. Even Athena. Which shows in Annabeth sometimes."

"What do you mean by that?" Nico asked. He was starting to regret coming here.

"Annabeth's fatal flaw is hubris, deadly pride. She can't stand being wrong, she won't ask for help, everything needs to be perfect, and she'll insult you if you're not." Percy sighed again. "But i'm no different. You already know my fatal flaw Nico, and you should know it's the most dangerous out of all of ours."

"And how are you so sure of that?"

Because if it came down to saving a friend or saving the world, I would chose the friend. And that Nico brings me to the other reason I brought you here Nico."

Nico's brain already hurt from all the information he was gaining. "And what would that be?"

"That either I'm gonna kill you or your gonna kill me."

Nico's hand dropped to his waistline.

Percy chuckled. "Not now Nico. But I can feel it. That on our next quest, I'm gonna be choosing that friend, and I need you to be ready to kill me Nico."

"No. You can't make me do this." His hand was on the hilt of his sword.

"Your right Nico. But I can tell you right now, none of you could beat me even you tried."

His hand slacked. "What do I need to do."

Percy cracked a smile. "Train. Train like you've never trained before, because you need to get real comfy with the idea of killing your friend."
