"Recognized. Apollo, B: 0-7"

There was no one waiting for him when he arrived, which was strange, since normally a red headed gust of wind better known as his girlfriend would have arrived by now to hug him like he hadn't seen her in months. Apollo ran his fingers through his hair and listened for any sign of life in the cave.

"Augh!" He smirked at the unmistakable sound of Winnie coming from within, most likely the kitchen getting frustrated that she had eaten the last of something or another.

He came to the living quarters of the cave and saw her bent over the table, scrawling away. Her shoulders were tense, her hair was in those double braids that he loved, and she was wearing one of his baggy green wife beaters over a bright red sports bra. Despite himself, everything he knew and had been taught by his mother, Apollo felt a dopey smile spread across his face. For whatever reason, this amazing girl with her life together and her rose colored view of the world, and her adorable studying get up, had decided he was worth her time.

He jogged over to the table, placed his hands on either side of her chair, and bent over to lay a kiss on the top of her head. She barely even noticed, only acknowledging him with a grunted, "hey."

He moved to her side and leaned over the table to see what she was working on, his hand coming down to play with the hair below one of the hair ties of a braid. She swatted his hand away and grunted again, this time in an obviously annoyed way, "I'm trying to work on this, can you just- shit-" She hurriedly erased an entire block of equations on the side of her paper and started scrawling haphazardly before heavily sighing and erasing everything to start all over again.

Apollo knew she had probably been working on it for hours now, he knew she had been having a little difficulty in her college credit classes Keystone City High was letting her take, and he knew she needed a breather. "Maybe you should take a break, come at it with fresh eyes-"

But he was cut off, "babe, please, not now, okay?"

Apollo retracted his hand completely and stood up straight, "okay," he said quietly and headed to the room he had been assigned in the cave. He heard Winnie's sigh and her attempt to call him back before she broke off into a curse.

When he came back out, changed out of his school uniform, Winnie was once again hunched over her textbook and homework, ignoring the outside world. She didn't even look up when he started digging around in the freezer. After a handful of minutes he made his was back to the table and reached a bowl into her line of vision.

Winnie looked up and saw Apollo in an "I heart KF" t-shirt, well it was actually the kid flash symbol, and not a heart, but it was implied. He had two bowls in his hands, one filled with three scoops of pistachio, and another overflowing with scoops of at least three different flavors, whipped cream, sprinkles and chocolate sauce, topped with a cherry. It was the latter that Apollo was setting down gently onto the table, an understanding smile on his face, "you should really take a break, babe."

Winnie sighed and returned a warm smile. She set her pencil aside and used to table as leverage so she could lean over and kiss her amazing boyfriend. When she broke away she whispered, "You really are the best."

Apollo smiled against her lips, "thank you for recognizing all my hard work," and lifted his free hand to pull her back for another kiss. Breaking away he sat down in front of her and started eating his ice cream, smiling to himself at the flush that was spreading over Winnie's cheeks. This girl was certainly going to be the death of him, and he was prepared to enjoy every minute of it.
