At the End of the Day

Because, at the end of the day, she didn't dwell on the bizarre architecture or the demon monkeys or the tiny golden idol that had started it all. The only image behind her eyelids at night was him. A DangerFox drabble.

Scarlett curled up inside a cave.

The forest was silent and still, the inhuman roars left far behind her.

The idol was safe in her pack.

She closed her eyes.

This wasn't her – the running, the adventuring.

It was him.

He had saved her, so she had helped him.

But it hadn't been enough.

She could still see him, his last warning still echoed through her mind.

Run.

And so she did.

The idol could have been worth the entire world, but it was nothing compared to the price she'd paid.

Guy.

She couldn't stop.

She had to continue.

For him.

A/N: No, I don't understand why I wrote this either. It might be because I was exceptionally bored and spent about four hours playing Temple Run 2 today. Anyway, this is my first attempt at a drabble, and it's 101 words. Also DangerFox is clearly the ship name for Guy Dangerous and Scarlett Fox and nothing will convince me otherwise.
