"Ephraim!" the young pegasus knight called.
The crown prince of Renais continued to steadily jog to the castle gate in Darkling Woods, guarded by a Dragon Zombie. Tana sighed and commanded her Pegasus to fly to the direction of some Deathgargoyles.
As the unit of assorted soldiers marched into the Demon King's lair, a knight, leading her pegasus behind her, ran up to the leader of the group. "Ephraim?"
The blue-haired lord turned around and smiled. "Is something bothering you, Tana?"
"No, it's nothing." she quickly replied. "Would you like to talk a little while the group is resting?"
"I'm sorry, but it's not possible. Even though we are resting, we must still be on guard, and prepared to fight. If we have a pleasant chat at this time, we could end up dead."
"Why must you be so stiff all the time? I think a little relaxing would do you some good. You seem to have been a little stressed lately."
"Well, Innes would agree with me if he were not so busy waxing his bow and tending to his wounds. He knows how dangerous battle can be. And if you will excuse me, I will be readying for battle."
"Why do you only care about fighting, my brother, and discipline? There are things that are just as important, or even more so. Why should I even care if you are all right or not, when all you do is throw it back in my face?" she stomped off, tears staining her eyes.
"Why is she so mad? What did I say?" Ephraim wondered.
Ephraim stood over his friend's body, eyes cloudy from tears. "Lyon... How could it come to this? I still don't understand how you could do all this..." Tana put her hand on Ephraim's shoulder, grasping it tightly. He looked at her apathetically, then his eyes returned to the floor.
"Tana!" The Demon King's body was spent, but so was another's. Ephraim rushed to her side, tears falling from his face. "Tana, just stay calm. We're going to have Lute come and mend your wounds. I'm sorry that I never spent time with you before. As soon as we get back home, I'll stay with you forever. I don't know when or how these feelings came about, but I know that I love you now Tana. Please don't die."
She smiled weakly as she looked up at Ephraim. "I've been waiting to hear those words from you for years. Thank you. Now I can die in peace knowing that I haven't only loved and lost. Even if someone got here in time to heal these wounds, I doubt I would stay alive." she coughed gently "There is only a one in ten chance that I could survive."
Lute hesitated, then crouched low behind Ephraim and began to use a mending staff to cure Tana's wounds. Ephraim's could not believe what he was hearing."You musn't die Tana! I won't let you!" His face still wet with tears, the young prince gently pressed his lips to hers. He broke the kiss, held her hand firmly, and said, "Don't die..."
"I won't..."
