OPERATION MAYAKO
"There they go again" I said. Mai and I were watching the classic battle of Monk vs. Ayako.
"Jeez, you would think they love each other" Mai said. At that point an idea crossed my mind, and I gave Mai a very sly smile.
I leaned over and whispered in her ear, "wait till everyone leaves, I have a plan but I need your help."
Mai waved goodbye to Naru as he once again reminded her to lock the door. Then she turned to me and asked, "so Yasu, what's this plan of your"
"Imagine how much better it would be if Monk and Ayako were a couple. Either more arguments and entertainment. Or less arguments and peace and quiet." I said excited.
"Okay, you have my attention. Now what's the plan" she said crossing her arms.
"Simple, get both of them to go on a dating website, they put in what they want. Then we make a few changes so they get each other."
"Sounds hard" she groaned.
"Come on Mai, I can't do this without you" I pleaded.
"Fine, I'll do it"
"Great. Operation get Monk and Ayako to date is in affect"
She started to laugh.
"What" I asked, "It took me like a half hour to think of that"
"That's like the lamest name I ever heard" she laughed.
"Fine you come up with a name" I challenged.
"How about … operation mayako"
"Not bad"
"We're going with it" she said sternly.
"Fine by me" I said raising my arms in defense.
Wow. She's cute when she's angry.
Me
"Why do I have to do this" Monk wined.
"When was the last time you had a girlfriend" I asked.
"Two, three, twenty years"
I stifled a laugh.
"Come on this is a great way to meet cute girls" I encouraged.
"Fine. I'll do the steenking test" he shouted.
Mai
"And one more questioned and your done" Mai said.
Ayako had agreed to do the test right away. No convincing needed from Mai.
After they both finished we met up at Mai's apartment.
"On three check the results" I said.
She nodded.
"One" I said.
"Two" she said.
"Three" we said at the same time.
Both screens showed only one result.
"Amazing" I said in shock.
"A match made in heaven I guess" Mai said looking at the results.
Ayako and Monk chatted online for a few days before agreeing to meet for dinner. Mai and I spied on them, just to see the first reaction. They didn't start yelling and arguing, that meant I owed Mai twenty dollars. They just looked down and said tree word in perfect unison. "Mai and Yasu"
Mai and I turned and walked away. I payed Mai as she said, "I guess they were made for each other"
Before I could think I said, "Do you want to catch a movie sometime"
"Sure" she responded.
The opportunity showed its self and I took it, "great, this would be our first date, then in three years you will be my wife, and we'll both work full time for S.P.R. and"
She cut me off with a hard slap on the cheek.
"Oh, the pain of love is too much to bear" I said expecting another slap. But got something completely different. A kiss.
"Tomorrow at eight, got it" she said before running off.
I will never understand you Mai.
