Here is a Two-shot fic I wrote while I was thinking about how the building up of Kate is happening at the moment. So this is my take of how it goes. The first chapter is up, I'll upload the second one tomorrow. Feel free to comment on it. PS: I haven't wrote for a while so I may be a little bit rusty. :)
They got a tip about a notorious theft running about the streets of New York that happens to be near the precinct. The call requested all available officers to help. Turns out, the theft happens to be a suspect they have been searching for the past 2 days so the team acted quickly as well.
They were catching a thief through the busy streets of New York and the suspect just made a turn down an alley. They know the alley was a dead end, so Beckett and Ryan followed him while Espo and Castle made their way to the building beside the only exit he could take to trap him.
"Ryan, come with me to the alley. Espo, Castle, inside" Beckett dictated and the team acted fast.
Marc Telco knows exactly who they are. He's been at the 12th once for theft, but was released when no one pressed charges. He knows that Richard Castle is not a cop heck, he's even a fan of his books! And that is his advantage, an advantage he is not going to throw away. He thinks of Castle's books and thinks a strategy from the Derrick Storm novels and he has to be smart about this because this might be his only chance of getting away.
As Espo and Castle are finding him, Marc clutches Castle from behind, startling him and leading to Esposito drawing out his gun. The people screaming lead Kate and Kevin to head into the building.
"You think I'm stupid enough to now devise the plan?!" Marc said screaming. He moves closer to Castle's ear to whisper "I read your books, Mr. Castle. They make a great books about how to get away most of the time"
"Most of that is just fiction and most of the time, don't work the way they do on my books. So sorry and my bad." Castle replied which made Marc put the gun closer to his head and Javi raising his gun.
"Yo, Man. Put the gun down and let him go." He said calmly. "We can talk through this."
People started running out, causing Beckett and Ryan delay, but Kate was able to risk a glance before the crowd blocked her line of vision and understood why the people were scared.
Richard Castle has a gun pointed on his head.
"No!" a soft gasp of a work that Kate managed to speak out before her breath stop at the sight. Kate stops, lowers her gun and lets crowd push her farther away. She doesn't move.
"Kate? KATE!" Ryan clutches her arm, bringing her back to reality and gave her a look that meant that she had a job to do and be a cop more than ever. "Be a cop, right now. If you want to save his life, be a cop. Do your job. It's going to be fine."
Kate looks like Ryan has knocked sense into her and shook her head to get in the game. They run to the scene.
