A/N: Hiya! This little poem is a challenge response to Qoheleth's Malachy O'More Challenge. It also doubles up as my first story to be published on this site.
I guess i should really say the Latin phrase that serves as the title translates into english as 'A blessing from the waves' and although there is a (minute) reference to that in the poem, i have used a little 'poetic liscence' (if you'll excuse the pun). although hopefully you can all figure out why i thin Eric would see Calleigh as a 'Blessing from the waves.'
Disclaimer: well, everyone else seems to be doing them; i think i'll just admit that i don't own it and have done with the whole business.
The dusky twilight glows, and the birds fly overhead
The Silver stars a-glowing and the living forget the dead
…
When two souls physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually; gladly unite as one
Narrating the stories of lovers present and past, theirs only just begun
…
The unwritten codes of conduct, and the unspoken rules of love
The happiness that comes from nowhere, and the blessing from above
…
Pink meets Ruby, Brown meets Cream, and Ivory the same
In the magical, mystical dance, that is the spirits lawful game
…
Eyes meet eyes, noses rub, lips willingly collide
Willing to accept and to give, what is theirs to provide
…
And when the midnight sun, beats down on them, heavily from the sky
We forget about the who's, the what's, the where's and all the why's
….
All questions and objections forgotten, a prisoner to the hold
Replaced, with understanding and a reality, a new tale to be told
…
The 3 AM singing of the crickets in the moors
Kills the romantic setting, but not the feelings that were the cause
…
The hurting, the heaving of the beating heart that follows
A spell from which you will never be unbound and the sweetest tonic you could ever swallow
…
Because you would gladly love her, and you live for her to feel the same
It's very conveniently a Sunday, and you can continue your 'love-game'
…
Her sunshine hair, and your deep satin pillows contrast on this heavenly day.
And you thank God that you met this woman – she is truly a blessing from the waves.
…
And in a years time, when that priest pronounces you two as one
You'll look back upon the ocean while the night sky excludes the sun.
Care to tell me what you thought?
Liana
