When I woke up this morning I automatically had a feeling in my gut that something bad was going to happen. Since today was the day of the reaping that didn't help my gut feeling from being wrong. Instead of worrying about whatever was going to happen today I went down stairs for breakfast. Like every year of the day of the reaping my mom likes to sleep in so she doesn't have to think about the worst, so there was no breakfast on the table. It didn't take me long to realize I was the one who slept late and my mom already left for the reaping. So I got dressed and I was out the door.

By the time I got to the center of District 4 the whole district was already there and they were just about to start. To be honest the place where they hold the worst event is the nicest in all of District 4. As I'm looking for my mom all around the square Alva Turnip steps up and announces "Happy Hunger Games to all! It is now time for the moment you have all been waiting for, picking our girl tribute!"

This ought to be great, I was thinking to myself when Alva Turnip announces "Shelly Simions you are the lucky girl tribute of District 4." I don't really know Shelly that well. I have just seen her around the district I think she is 16 or something. Then Alva Turnip said "Settle down, settle down it's time to pick our boy!" As she reaches her hand in the bowl full of the boy's names all I can think is here it comes the most dreadful moment of my life. Then she says "Our lucky boy is…Finnick Odair!" Once I hear that name I know for sure that my life is over.

While I was slowly making my way towards the stage I was hoping some kind andd true Career (since we are a career district) would come and volunteer, but there is complete silence. Whn I finally make it to the stage Alva Turnip says "I think this will be a great year for District 4!" Then she takes Shelley and me away from all of our friends and family to go to the Capitol.
