Year I

"Alright there Evans?" Glancing up from her transfiguration homework, Lily sighed. "Depends on what your definition of alright is, Potter." She said, laying down her quill."Well, according to my definition, you don't look alright." He replied in a laid back way only Potter was capable of. "Wow Potter, what a genius, next Einstein you are." She threw back sarcastically while picking her quill up and preparing to write."I know, thank you. But I know something that would cheer you up!" He answered smoothly. "Oh? Did you finally figure out how to brew a potion?" She questioned, dipping her quill in ink. "Yes!" He answered, smirking. Raising an, eyebrow, the redhead sighed. "I don't have time for this guessing game right now, Potter. I still have homework! I'm glad you apparently don't. NOW BEGONE!" "But wait Evans! You never heard what potion I can brew!" Groaning, Lily said, " Ok, what potion can you brew?" " A love potion!" He answered triumphantly. "Oh, so that's why you have girls following your every move. I just knew it couldn't be the charm. Or looks. Or skills. Because you don't have any. " She said, obviously ever growing pile of homework had never looked so high, and she had a limited amount of time. Heck, her transfiguration homework was due the day after tomorrow! "Potter, please leave me alone! I'm asking you, no, begging, to please PLEASE leave me alone! She pleaded. "Alright, fine, as you clearly don't appreciate my skills in the cheering-up department." He replied sulkily, stalking off moodily.

"Well, that clearly didn't go as planned." James whispered to Sirius behind closed doors later.

Year 2

"Hey, Evans." "Hey, Potter." Stepping neatly out of the Transfiguration classroom, she brushed past him without sparing James a second glance. "Evans, Hey EVANS!" He hollered behind her. She turned around and sighed. "What Potter? Not doing homework for the millionth time caught up with you?"

"What a mind reader." He muttered. Behind him Sirius barked out a laugh, and Peter snickered.

Glancing down at her wristwatch, she groaned. "Alright Potter, make it quick. I have to be at Charms in five minutes, as do you," she said pointedly. "So make it quick." Lily translated, seeing James' blank stare. "Well, the History of Magic essay is due tomorrow, and," "And you need me to help you finish it." She finished for him. Glancing around at the students quickly walking by, rather than look Lily in the eyes, he answered. "I repeat what I said before, what a mind reader." Potter said in way of affirmation. "Fine." She sighed. "Seven o'clock, library. Don't be late," she added quickly, seeing James' look of relief. Throwing his arms around her, "What a hero!" he said happily. "Geroff!" She shrieked. Man, twelve year old boys were heavy!

"Well, that clearly didn't go as planned." James whispered to Sirius behind closed doors later.
