Wearing my favorite outfit, I took one last glance in the mirror. Perfect. I thought. I strode down the stairs, kissed my mom goodbye, and walked through the front door. How would I have ever suspected that would be the last time I could safely walk through that doorway.

I rang the door bell of Jason's pale blue house. He answered the door as soon as I had pressed the button. He was a cute, baby faced, boy with mid-lengthed brown hair.

"Hey Bree, glad you could come." He let me into his living room, and gave me a hug, that lasted just a bit too long. "You look great tonight." His blue eyes sparkling like the afternoon sky.

He walked over to the stereo, and motioned for me to sit on the couch. Soothing sounds came from the speakers as he loped over, sitting next to me. "So are you expecting anyone to come tonight? Waiting for someone special?" he tried to sound suave, but there was a little bit too much edge to his voice.

"Nobody in particular." I shrugged. Relief washed over his features, and then he composed himself once again. He scooted a little closer. I started to feel uncomfortable, but thankfully, the doorbell rang.

Jason jumped a little bit, clearly caught off guard, and slightly disappointed. He hopped off the couch, and started for the door. Right before he opened it, he asked me to change the music that was on. Good idea, considering this was supposed to be a party.

His house slowly became more occupied, filling with people of all shapes and sizes, but each person had something in common. They all wore their best clothing. This was definitely going to be the party of the year.

As the evening progressed, things between couples heated up. I felt a tad awkward, considering I no longer had a boyfriend, and Jason was getting exceptionally close to me. Instead of letting him try to take things to a new level, I went off towards the bathroom. When I came back out, I told him that my mom had called and there was an emergency.

"Do you want me to walk you home? It doesn't look like anyone here needs my supervision." He motioned towards the couples getting friendlier with each other on the couches.

"Oh, no thanks, it's not that long of a walk. I'll be okay." He definitely looked disappointed, but I didn't let him get to me. I walked to the front door, waving goodbye as I shut it.

How upsetting, I was going to leave the best party I'd ever go to.

Turning left from the driveway, and right down Tamarak Hollow, it was just a straight shot towards home. Walking down the sidewalk, I heard footsteps somewhere behind me. I glanced back and saw four older men about twenty-five feet back or so. I wished I hadn't turned Jason down, it definitely isn't safe walking the streets of Seattle at night, with the rising death told and all.

The men didn't seem to be planning on turning any time soon, so I walked past my drive way, and turned onto Bounty Drive. Of coarse, they kept on walking down Tamarak Hollow, and I was left there, feeling like a complete idiot for thinking that anyone would want to follow me home.

Just then I felt an unnatural gust of wind go by me. I looked around, but nothing was there. Not thinking anything of it, I turned to go back home, when all of a sudden I heard him for the first time.

"You smell delicious."
