The Song the Angels Sang
The doors of the Great Hall swung open: everyone stared at the couple entering. He had unmanageable raven colored hair and bright green eyes, She, in contrast, had fiery red hair, which was in ringlets for the ball and dark hazel eyes. Both wore dress robes of midnight blue. He took hold of her hand and led her to the middle of the dance floor. She put her arms around his neck and he put his arms around her waist. She laid her head on his shoulder and hummed to the soft music. They were not aware that they were being watched- Minerva McGonagall thought back to 1979…
(Flashback)
The couple swept acrossed the dance floor. They were such an unlikely couple: Lily Evans and James Potter. For 6 years they had despised each other and now, at the 7th year ball, they were in love. They danced right to the centre of the Great Hall, James took Lily's hand and they shared their first kiss, the Kiss changed everything.
(End Flashback)
Minerva remembered all too well and watched as He cupped Her small pale freckled face in his hands. She looked at him with what could only be love, in her eyes
Their lips met, and, if only for a moment, He forgot everything: Voldemort, Sirius, Cedric, and his parents. If just for a fleeting moment, there were no hateful cousins or aunts or uncles. All the emotion and passion that had welled up inside him, was released in this kiss. She kissed him back, she felt weak, but she knew he would hold her tight and protect her, just as he had in the chamber of secrets 5 years ago. They broke the kiss and stared lovingly into each other's eyes, just like the generation before.
McGonagall turned to the headmaster, "Albus?"
"Yes, Minerva?" Dumbledore inquired.
"Look at them, Albus," Minerva's voice quivered, "Don't they look just like…"
"Yes, Minerva, Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley look exactly like Lily and James Potter, so many years ago, sharing their first kiss in the centre of the dance floor."
Minerva looked at Albus Dumbledore with a new light, "Oh, yes, Minerva, I remember the night of June, 7 1979, the night that changed the history of out world, the night that led to the prophecy, all because Lily loved James at last." The headmaster and headmistress sat in silence as they watched the light from the moon of the bewitched ceiling dance off the heads of Ginny and Harry, both silently praying that this wouldn't be a repeat of what happened to James and Lily, hoping that these young innocent lovers would not meet the same terrible fate…
But as Ginny and Harry danced in the moonlight of the bewitched ceiling, they were oblivious to the world around them, they were focused only on each other. The two smiling faces of Lily and James Potter looked down from heaven and saw the two teens, who's love was as pure as the song the angels sang.
