Gabriel looked intensely at the watch the man had brought him. It was broken in several places and had stopped completely. He shook his head , rolling his eyes as the man smiled sheepishly.

"I smashed it against a couple of rocks when I went rock climbing. It was my Dad's. Can you fix it?" , he asked , stuffing his hands in his pocks and Gabriel nodded.

"Come after a week. I'll have it fixed. You can pay later" , he said kindly as he could , despite being angry at the state of the beautiful watch presented to him. It seemed to have worked because the man nodded cheerfully and happily exited Gabriel's shop.

He signed as he set it down on his table and began to carefully take it apart. He may not have his powers , but he still had a gift for watches. He smiled softly to himself as he gazed around his shop.

Peter had managed to find him a nice loft in New York and created it into a watch shop.

The Lion's Den , he called it and it was proudly painted on the doors.

Peter had shook his hand and that was it. He never saw him again. In a way , it was for the best.

He heard the familiar ding of the door opening and looked up to see the blonde woman he had rescued from Eric Doyle. She smiled warmly and he smiled too , getting abruptly from his chair.

"How are you?" , he asked warmly , heading over to her and she smiled. "Good. Peter gave me your address. I hope you don't mind" , she said but her voice sounded off. Gabriel could sense something was wrong with her voice.

"Do you have a throat infection?" , he asked cautiously and the woman smiled and shook her head before gesturing to her ears and shaking her head sadly.

Oh right.

She was deaf.

He nodded in understanding as she laughed and said ,"I can still read lips"

"I'm Emma" , she said and Gabriel smiled. "I'm Gabriel" , he said and she smiled. "Like the angel?" , she asked innocently and his heart wrenched painfully but he nodded smiling.

"Lovely" , she said and smiled brightly.

He smiled too and gestured to a chair and she sat down , looking at him expectantly. "Can I help you? Do you need a watch repaired?" , he questioned and she shook her head and motioned to the chair beside her. He sat down looking at her intensely as she took his hands in hers.

"Blue" , she said studying his warm brown eyes and he cocked an eyebrow , trying to ignore the tinging that was transferring from Emma's hands to his.

"Blue?" , he asked and she nodded and repeated, "Blue. I see colours. Often a certain colour with a person. You're blue" , she explained and he smiled and ducked his head. The memory of the night was still fresh in his mind.

"Thank you," , she started "for saving me , Gabriel. There is not much I can do. But here" , she said brokenly and reached inside her handbag. She pulled out a blue box and smiled at Gabriel. He smiled , confused but happy , and accepted the box. He opened it to find.. brownies.

Beautifully baked brownies , glistening with chocolate.

"Oh my" , he said and Emma frowned. "You don't like it?" she said and Gabriel laughed as he looked at her warmly.

"No one's ever baked me brownies" , he said and she smiled and reached out her hands before hugging him. He felt her warm body press to his and a single tear escaped his eye. He let out a broken sob as Emma just held him closer.

"Blue" , she whispered and Gabriel finally felt forgiven.
