As the starting chords for the dreaded 'Girls Aloud' classic filled the room the crew groaned.
"Not again!" Worf growled.
"Every time!"
Oblivious to the murmurs, Data kept singing breaking into the chorus as Riker rolled his eyes.
"I'm just a love machine
Fillin' my fantasies..."
It was the command crew's monthly karaoke on the USS Enterprise and this time it was Picard, Worf, La Forge and Data against Crusher, Riker, Troi and Wesley.
Troi sighed with relief as the last chorus faded and Data sat down.
"Glad that's over for another month," she muttered. "Who's- oh no."
"I AM THE ONE AND ONLY!" Picard yelled into the microphone. "So take that Shinzon!"
Wesley watched in disbelief as the captain begin his 'air guitar routine', taking out the frustrations of his command on the imaginary electric guitar. He turned to Beverley.
"Mom, I'm scared!"
"THERE'S NOBODY I'D RATHER BE!"
"You'll get used to it, this week's not actually too bad. My turn!" Beverly sprang up and grabbed the microphone off Picard.
Wesley stared in utter horror and disbelief as his mother begin dancing around in front of the screen.
"Put your hand on your heart and tell me," she wailed. "Its all over; I won't believe it til..."
Three hours later
Troi turned to Riker as she sat back down after her particularly awful rendition of 'Dancing Queen'. "Where'd Wesley go?"
"Beverly took him to sickbay."
"I wasn't that bad, was I?"
Before Riker could respond, the familiar introduction of 'Unchained Melody' began on the speakers and the blood drained from his face. "Tell me that's not-"
"Yep."
Worf, his back ramrod straight as always, turned briefly to his audience and said: "I dedicate this performance to my beloved, Jadzia."
He opened his mouth, and screamed: "Oh, my love! My darling! I've hungered for your touch!"
Fingers firmly pressed into his ears Riker yelled: "Here it comes!"
"... can do so much, are you still MIIIINNNNEEEEEEE- oof!"
At that moment the doors hissed open and six security officers threw themselves at Worf. This did not deter the Kling-on, who continued to clutch at the microphone as he was pinned to the floor.
"I neeeeed yooour looooove!"
"Get him outta here!" Riker ordered.
"Hey, he's on my team you can't do that!" Picard whined.
"Stop whining, it's me and Deanna's turn now anyway."
Geordi clutched at Data as the grinning face of ... Zac Efron appeared on the screen. Riker cleared his throat.
"We're soaring, flying! There's not a star in heaven that we can't-"The red alert klaxon cut Riker off, thankfully before Troi could begin her solo.
The crew rushed to the Bridge; to find Wesley in the captain's chair, various bodies lying across the floor. Wesly rocked back and forth sucking his thumb noisily.
Troi turned to Riker. "Um, is he allowed to do that?"
"I can't take it any more!" Wes screamed. "I've set the ship on auto destruct! None of you can turn it off! Computer begin playback!"
Wesley stood up with a flourish and produced a microphone. The viewscreen changed, coming up with the words...
"It's the final countdown!"
"Doo doo doo doo," chanted Data obediently. "Doo doo doo doo doo."
Ahh, just another day on the flagship...
