The lone blond standing at the payphone dials a number, reading off the back of a plastic payphone card. He hits another number, and a short bit later, dials another number.

He waits; waits for the person on the other end to pick up.

'Hey, Riku?'

There is a pause, and he laughs briefly.

'Yeah, yeah. I know it's late over there—forgive me?'

Incomprehensible noise comes from the speaker, and he holds it away from his ear for a moment before bringing it back.

'How's it over in New York?'

More grumbling from the person on the other end.

'You look nice tonight—does that make you feel better?' the blond asks, half-joking, half-serious.

Something that the people nearby the blond cannot hear comes from the phone, but he understands it alright. His expression changes into something that is a mix of—regret? Sadness?

'I know, Riku. I know. I miss you too—honest.'

A stream of steady ranting issues from the payphone, and the blond listens, as serious as if he was at a funeral. When it stops, he sighs, before starting to speak again.

'I realize you're on the other side of the country. But there's nothing we can really do. Your parents are never going to go for you transferring to the other side of the country.'

Another pause.

'Yeah. You're right. You'll be done school in a few years.'

He smiles.

'I know. I'm looking forward to it.'

There is a click as he hangs up.

'Good night.'

And Cloud leaves.

I know, I know--how much cheesier could I get? -.-" Sorry about that. Sorry about the fact that I can't write Cloud as well. Actually, sorry about the fact that I can't write at all.

It was originally Sora/Riku then I changed Sora into Roxas and then Roxas into Cloud arbitrarily, perhaps maybe because I've alwys wanted to write Cloud/Riku but never thought I could? Or maybe the situation (i.e., AGE GAP) fit Cloud and Riku better...whatever.

Would it be incredibly nerdy of me to say that the first time I heard Hey There Delilah was on Thursday? D:

And, a plead--to anyone reading this who is up-to-date with D. Gray-man (in Japan), woud you be a dear and tell me what the current situation is with Kanda through a review, PM, whatever? I'd totally love you for that. (:
