"If I died, would you miss me?"
Gavin looked up from the stack of papers he had been trying, and failing, to work through for the past hour to see a tired, worried looking Tim staring back at him. His usual response would be to tell him to stop worrying so much, and they'd talk just as soon as he'd finished this paperwork. However, seeing Tim so clearly distressed on this occasion caused him to stop instantly, "Come here," he said gently, motioning for Tim to follow him over to the sofa.
They settled down, Gavin pulling Tim towards him, wrapping his arms around his waist in a backwards hug, resting his chin on Tim's shoulder, "What's brought all this on?" he asked softly, his breath tickling Tim's neck as he spoke.
Tim sighed and shrugged, unable to justify his concern and simply enjoying being close to Gavin too much to think up a reason, "I just...want to know," he replied.
Gavin placed a kiss to Tim's neck, "If I died, would you miss me?"
Tim turned to face him, adjusting himself so he was straddling Gavin's lap, a sad smile on his face, "Been there. Done that. Bought. The. T-shirt." He punctuated each word with a gentle prod to Gavin's chest, earning a playful shove against the sofa before being pulled down onto his lover's chest.
"Sorry," Gavin whispered, "But you have to admit it was funny telling everyone you were right about me being on a pirate ship" he grinned.
"Shut up," Tim laughed, leaning down to kiss him passionately, leaving them both dazed and breathless, "Well?" he asked.
"What?" Gavin asked, amused and slightly baffled, "You want more?" he leaned up for another kiss only to be held back.
"You didn't answer my question," Tim's face became serious for a moment, "If I died, would you miss me?"
Gavin reached up to run his fingers through Tim's hair, "If you died," he began, looking directly into his lover's eyes, "I'd miss you more than anything. Life wouldn't be worth living without you," he continued, finding it hard to stop the emotions building inside him at the thought of losing Tim.
He cleared his throat and tried to compose himself, "does that answer your question?"
"I suppose," Tim grinned, "and yes."
"Yes, what?" Gavin asked, again losing track of the conversation.
"I do want more" he whispered, leaning down to continue what had just started.
