Rainy Day Man
I stood there in the pouring rain, not knowing what to do. I'd have to walk home now. I knew I'd be sick in a couple days, I was already soaked to the skin. Even though I tried to fight it, I felt warm tears streaming from my eyes. I was heartbroken, simple as that.
When I think about the first time,
I thought I found someone who cared for me.
Things were not as they appeared to be.
His name was Ethan. He had short brown hair and baby blue eyes. He'd asked me to go to dinner, and I of course said yes. I was in love with him. How was I supposed to know he was going to break up with me? He'd acted like he loved me, but it must have all been a joke. Now I had nobody. I was lost in the big world. It seemed so empty now.

I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I looked up and saw a pair of baby blue eyes staring at me. But these weren't the cruel ones of Ethan, but the ones of my very best friend. "You okay?" he asked, holding his umbrella over my head. I answered only with more tears. He hugged me to him, allowing me to cry on his shoulder. He knew I needed somebody. He rubbed my back and tried to calm me.

I knew I had to be the luckiest person on earth that moment. I had one really great friend. He kissed the top of my head. He softly shushed me until I stopped crying. He didn't ask what had happened, I'm sure he could have figured it out by himself. As he held me close to him still, a thought struck my mind. I suddenly wondered if he was the one. But I wasn't sure how he felt about me, so I didn't think about it any further. I just savored each moment with my head on his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you..." he said, "I won't let it ever happen again." I lifted my head up and looked at him. "What do you mean?" I asked. He blushed. "Listen... I... Well, I ... I like you." I was shocked. Very shocked. I was sitting here thinking he probably thinks of me no more than a friend, and now he's sitting here basically saying he loves me but that he's too chicken to say it right, so he substitues like for love. I didn't know what to say at first. I just started crying into his shoulder again. "I love you too," I whispered through my tears, now tears of happiness.

I felt two of his fingers under my chin. He lifted up my head and gave me a soft kiss on the lips. "I've waited so long for this day, Hikari." I hugged him tighter. "Although I've never known it, I have too... Now, Takeru-chan, lets get outta this rain and go to my place, huh? You're brother, Sora, and Mimi are there visiting with Taichi." I took his hand, and we walked together under the umbrella to TK's car.
