The common room is oddly quiet; with exams coming up, nearly everyone is studying, the Marauders included.
Remus and Peter, however, have run off to the library for some Arithmancy information, so James and Sirius are sitting alone, working at some Divination chart.
Sirius pauses in contemplation, leaning back to stretch for a moment. Suddenly, Shakespeare jumps into his lap and looks up expectantly.
Against his better judgment, Sirius strokes his head, and the cat purrs loudly.
"Don't let Remus see that," suggests James. "He might think you like it."
"Bugger off," responds Sirius.
The cat remains in his lap.
