"Neji, let's hurry shall we? We can't keep the empress waiting all day!" Tenten exclaimed, looking at the boy over her shoulder.
"Hn." Was all she got in reply. She sighed deeply at his lack of using his "human words" They had been sent on an escort mission for an empress that they had heard nothing about. It was just them, because Lee had been sent on a different mission earlier in the week. They walked in silence. After all, Neji wasn't much for words. Tenten didn't care though; she was used to the silence from him. She still considered him her best friend though. It took awhile, but they got to the restaurant where they were to meet this woman.
She was really pretty, like any empress would be. She also seemed really nice, unlike most empresses. They had their formal greeting, and began their long journey to the country of the wave. It would take about ten days to get there, and five days to get back to Konoha. (They wouldn't have an ordinary human there to slow them down)
The first two days consisted of the women chattering excitedly, and teasing Neji quite a lot. By day three, they were getting a little bit bored of this. Neji was no fun. He didn't react like they had hoped. They were beginning to be really good friends. Neji was weary of her though. He sensed that something was wrong. Late at night, he noticed that she would always mutter to herself. He used his byakugan to watch her through the tents. She seemed, strange. He just couldn't figure it out.
By day eight, he was really worried. She seemed nervous. They had stopped for a rest at a spot by a lake. Neji and Tenten left to find firewood to cook some lunch. They came back with armfuls of wood. There was only one thing missing… the empress. They were looking around, Neji on one side of the lake and Tenten on the other; when Tenten heard a strangled shout. It was Neji. She ran over to where he was, and found that this "empress" had a choke hold on him. She had caught him by surprise. (she knew of his blind spot after much study)
"Anyone can request a ninja escort." The woman sneered. She grabbed a kunai and slit Neji's throat. She ran away quickly, showing that, despite what they had been told, she was a ninja.
"Neji!" Tenten screamed his name, fighting back tears. She held his head up in her lap. He was still alive, but she knew he would be gone soon. She couldn't do anything about it. She stroked his hair gently, unable to hold back the tears anymore. They rushed in a torrent. He put a hand up to her face. He looked as if he was about to say something, but his body went limp. He had taken his last breathe and died in her arms. She sobbed into his chest. She screamed. It was a scream full of pain. After about an hour of crying, she decided to go home. She picked up his body and started towards Konoha.
Once she got back, she ran to the Hokage tower. Tsunade looked up in surprise when the door flew open. She was even more surprised that Tenten was in tears. Tenten quickly recapped what had happened. It was hard to understand her, but Tsunade caught enough to know what had happened. She hugged Tenten for what seemed like hours, while the girl just sobbed. They scheduled a funeral for Neji the next day.

I definitely have to work with this, expand it, maybe make a chapter or two more, but for now this is all I could do. Mostly, I'm lazy, but I also have to go. So tell me what you think and all, and I'll do more later. (This was originally going to be with Sasuke and Naruto with possibly with a much different plot but I wrote I love you, and I decided I should do this instead….)
