We talked about psychology in my English class, and I found it fascinating, which led me to start to analyze the characters of House. Which led to this litle piece that, honestly, I adore because it's so different from what I usually write, and seems really deep. Not meaning to brag or anything, lol. Just my opinions...which brings me to...reviews! I'd love to hear your opinions on this, as it is so different. Do you like it? What, if anything, can/should be improved?

You may also be wondering why it's its own fic instead of being with my other drabbles. It's because it has a completely different feel to it, and I thought it would stand better by itself.

I hope you enjoy Paradox.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own House, M.D. or any of its characters.

Paradox

Rain never did anyone's mood any good. Especially someone who was too hung over to remember anything that happened last night, and especially not something as trivial as what the next day's weather was going to be. And it definitely didn't help if that someone was halfway to work riding his motorcycle when the clouds opened up, drenching him from top to bottom. The last few Vicodin he'd had in his pocket were ruined, too, so Wilson wasn't that surprised that House was even more of an ass and a snark than usual.

Everyone else caught on quickly, too, and even Cuddy left him alone. That was why House sat in his office staring forlornly out the window; he didn't think anyone would want to be within 50 feet of him, and so couldn't possibly be watching.

But Wilson was watching his friend through the glass, his brow furrowed and arms crossed. At some point Cameron came up next to him. "He looks like the poster child for misery."

"Yeah, he's had a tough week."

When he didn't elaborate, she continued, "He's so lonely all the time. He doesn't really have anyone to help him when things get tough." Wilson still didn't say anything, only frowned slightly, so she continued, "But that's mostly his own fault. Does he realize that his acting like a jerk only pushes away anyone who might help?"

"That's the thing people don't get about House. He doesn't want to be so lonely, but he doesn't entirely want not to be, either," Wilson spoke softly, his eyes never leaving the back of House's head.

Cameron studied Wilson, and he briefly met her gaze as if to say he wouldn't elaborate on that, either. She smiled weakly, having obviously been hoping for some deep insight into the mind of her employer. "I guess House will always be a paradox," she said before quietly walking away.

A paradox…or a puzzle. Even if he'd never admit it, Wilson liked puzzles just as much as his best friend, who just so happened to be the biggest one of all.
