"Really, James? This cardie actually has cherries on it. And a-is that a skirt?! Look, I know this cover is important but why do I have to look like such a wimp?"

Molly Moran. When she'd taken Sebastian's surname a year ago, it was the most romantic gesture their relationship had seen. There was nothing as civilian as a wedding, of course. No one working for James Moriarty's inner circle was registered anywhere remotely official, and Molly was as adverse to looking feminine as a cat was to water. She wasn't completely against romantic gestures though, hence the name change. She understood what it meant. It meant that no matter what her Seb was required to do for Moriarty- or with him- the sniper would always return to Molly's bed eventually.

Assuming she was there, of course. Molly had her own duties and responsibilities. Moriarty would never let someone with her talents slip from his grasp, especially not when he knew how to ensure and reward her loyalty. Her dedication to Moran and her less than legal hobbies led to Jim acquiring her a few months after he permanently employed Sebastian. Molly's talents differed from those of her partner. These differences made her an asset to Moriarty, rather than just yet another target.

If any of Jim's employees were to gain official titles, Molly would most likely be greeted with the title of 'Medical Expert'. This led to her being consulted on a wide range of injuries, both inflicted and suffered. The majority of her knowledge and expertise, however, went towards creating new…'interrogation' methods for unwilling interview participants. This was Molly's favourite part about her employment- her morbid and cruel exploration of human pain thresholds was encouraged here, rather than met with the disapproving (and often disturbed) looks from her days at University. Handling and using weapons was also a part of her twisted skills base, though it was quickly discovered that her deceptively gentle hands were better paired with a scalpel or keyboard. By underworld standards, she was a mid-level hacker. A secure government database was protected from her nimble typing and knowledge of coding, for instance. Not much else was, though.

None of this made Molly Sampson (as she was known when she joined Moriarty) particularly unique. No, what made her so useful, was that Molly still seemed human. Perfect for handling Jim's customers and employees when the spider wasn't feeling interested in anyone deemed less interesting than himself. Growing up in an ordinary family home, attending school and Uni, falling in and out of love- this collection of normality contributed to the fact that Molly could fit into a variety of situations in a way no one else but Jim seemed able to manage. Not only could she act as whatever she was needed to be (girlfriend, carer, mother, prostitute), she could manipulate both allies and enemies simultaneously without either side noticing. In other words, she was perfect for Moriarty's latest goal.

Getting close to Sherlock Holmes.

Based on my headcanon that Molly has always been in league with Moriarty, and has simply been undercover in order to help him destroy Sherlock.

If this gets good reviews, I hope to continue it to explore her relationships with Sherlock, Jim and Seb a little better.
