It was the Christmas holidays of Harry's first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry and Ron were sitting down at one of the four long house tables in the Great Hall, when Hermione Granger walked in with her trunk. Harry and Ron were in the middle of a game of Wizard's chess.
"I see you've packed," said Ron, just as Hermione reached them.
"I see you haven't," said Hermione, nodding towards the chess.
"Change of plans, my parents are going to Romania to see my brother Charlie."
"That's good; you can help Harry look in the library for Nicholas Flamal."
"We've look a hundred times!" exclaimed Ron.
"Not in the restricted section. Happy Christmas."
Hermione walked away, leaving the boys staring after her. They weren't particularly happy about looking again.
"We can hide under my invisibility cloak I got," whispered Harry, glancing around the Great Hall to see if anyone heard. "C'mon, let's go have another look now."
Ron groaned, but got up to help Harry. Harry jogged up to his dorm and grabbed his Invisibility cloak, then jogged back to Ron, who was waiting outside the library. Before they entered the restricted section of the library, they both hid under the cloak, making sure their feet were hidden. Inside they walked, quietly stepping over the latch that separated the restricted section from the rest of the library.
"Shhh!" said Harry, as Ron clipped his toe on the chain.
"Sorry," said Ron reluctantly.
Harry and Ron shuffled through the shelves looking for a book that looked promising on Nicholas Flamal.
"Here! This looks good," said Ron, pointing to a book high up on the shelf.
Harry was sure no one was looking, so he took off the invisibility cloak and reached for the book Ron had pointed to. Just as he was about to open it, a voice harry could recognise from anywhere spoke from around the corner. Severus Snape.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here? Two boys who shouldn't be in the restricted section. And what were they looking for? Give that book to me." Harry unwillingly handed over the book to Snape and waited for his punishment.
"Ah, looking for Nicholas Flamal and his Philosophers Stone were we?" At least Ron had pointed at the right book. They just didn't have a chance to read it. "You two will serve detention with me every week until I have managed to help Professor Quirrell steal the stone. That could very well be until the end of the year," Snape said smugly. "The Dark Lord shall rise again," he added, an evil gleam in his eye. With that he marched off, book in his hand.
