Something about 2 months ago I had the most wonderful Wiliam&Julia dream ever! Just after waking up I knew I want to share it with you. Long time ago I've written what I dreamt in Polish and now I finally have time to turn it into fic in English. I'm sure you'll like my dream, cause I just loved dreaming it! Enjoy!
Huge thanks for Ethelfreda, who helped me to turn my dream into story, by correcting my mistakes and making my descriptions more proper.
Of course, characters belong to those wonderful people who created "Murdoch Mysteries".
I was sitting in a big tree that overlooked the garden belonging to the beautiful white residence. Below me, there was a perfectly trimmed lawn and a cluster of large shrubs on my left hand side. Just a bit on the right of those, hiding in their shade, a woman sat leaning back on a deck chair. She wore a light blue skirt with white lace collars and cuffs, and a white blouse. I was surprised she was not wearing a hat since she was always careful to protect her delicate skin from the bright sunlight, but I knew Dr. Julia Ogden would not expose her health to any unnecessary danger. Julia's elbows were resting on the arms of the deck her hands resting on her stomach.
On her left stood three round table piled high with anything she could have needed: food, drinks, books and more. It looked as if someone wanted to be sure that she wouldn't have to get up and I didn't think Julia was that lazy, not even on Sunday (I had a vague impression that the scene I was watching, while hidden by the tree, was set on Sunday afternoon). After a short while I saw William walking toward Julia and noticed he was not wearing a hat either and what was more surprising, he wasn't wearing his jacket and that is when I knew it must have been Sunday. What's more I was almost sure I was not looking at Dr. Ogden and Det. Murdoch, but at Mr. and Mrs. Murdoch!
In his left hand, William carried a plate of sliced watermelon and after Julia selected a piece he somehow found room for the plate on the overloaded tables. Sitting on the ground next to his wife, he gently caressed her cheek then put his hand on her belly. Both Mr. and Mrs. Murdoch smiled and the happiness visible on their faces was striking. Julia took William's hands and placed them a bit lower on her abdomen which, as I had noticed just a while earlier, was not as flat as it used to be. I couldn't hear their conversation, but somehow I knew what they were talking about. The mother-to-be was telling her husband about the current size of their baby and about its development. He was listening to what his wife was telling him, even though he knew it all as well as she did. He simply was never tired of listening about their "little miracle" as Julia called their baby.
The scene which I was observing began to fade, but before it faded completely, I was able to see William and Julia sharing a tender kiss, full of love and happiness. Then, the vision was gone.
I really don't know if they had watermelons in Toronto in the beginning of 20th century and I highly doubt Julia would allow William to turn into her slave even if she were pregnant, but it's just how it was in my dream. Inaccurate or not, it was still very, very nice to dream...
