Stained Glass Minds
Prologue
"Sayako!" Voices eased their way through the dank stupor in her mind and the stripped burn of anger at the top of her spine coiled calmer in its sleep; a soothing jumble of bells and whistles that chimed eagerly for attention, "Saya-chan dear, it's nearly seven. You're going to miss your bus and you need to be in early for concert rehearsal." Same voice, a warm sound…rich bells like water…familiar. One of the small tight knots twisting the base of her chest into a wrenching mess loosened and the teenager drew a ragged breath, allowing the scents of tea and rice to fill her. Her head hurt, full off an overly sweet daze that felt like some kind of creeping mould wrapped around her head and neck, old like stale honey. The scent of the tea cleaned away a little of the dust and soothed the aching sweetness. Tea: water and flowers and warmth.
Light in her eyes.
Blink. Chink and saline break and sand, lashes unframgment. Blink. Repeat.
Step, she was dizzy but less…mind slack? Her thoughts began to steep together once more but with the coherency came an overpowering nausea. The corridor began to swing and lurch as she stepped out of her bedroom, making her eyes sting as the open bathroom door and Kagome's bathrobe burst into white green spots, casting shadows into sharp relief. The girl gripped tighter onto the banister when the world began to rock even more violently and the last thing she saw was her mother's shocked face as she fell to the carpet, feeling her stomach roll upwards as she did and the black taste of bile washing against the back of her throat.
A/N: I know I shouldn't have started another story but the plot bunnies wouldn't leave me alone. This is a very short prologue so the first real chapter should be along soon! Please review and critique is always loved!
