Dreaming a Mirror

Dreaming a Mirror

Today I dreamt a mirror,

((Just see me, just see me))

Today I dreamt I saw myself

((Just see me, to see you))

Wish you could see me too

Yes, I dreamt a dream

((To see you, to see you))

Yes, I dreamt you saw me

((To see you, just see me))

And I could see you too

Dreaming a Mirror

Summary: Fai touched his pale hand to his 'bleeding chest', finding it far from healed...But Kurogane saw…So he smiled. A ficlet starring Kurogane and Fai. Can be KuroFai, no set timeline.

It was the usual one-sided argument.

"Stupid mage," et cetera, et cetera, et cetera when…

"I'm here, ya know? You don't…don't have to smile like that. I see… I see……." Kurogane sighed, turning away, unable to express the sentiment.

'I see you.'

Fai had a dream that night.

In the dream, some terrible creature of a beast (it had no face, no, no one he knows or knew or served once upon a time, nothing like that) had reached into him and tried to tear his heart out. (Had he succeeded? He didn't know. He just knew that it hurt, it hurt, it hurt, and it wouldn't stop hurting, never, ever, ever, no matter what he did.)

In his dream, he left that place (not a castle, no, just a place, a simple place, he's never been there, no of course not) to go elsewhere. The wound in his chest still bled, terribly, but he did his best to hide the gaping hole.

On his journey, he met a little kitty and puppy as well as a big, mean ninja-puppy.

Fai wasn't sure how (it had nothing to do with a witch who stole Fai's pretty markings, that was just ridiculous, ludicrous, insane!) but he ended up traveling with the strange threesome.

However, as time went on, Fai's wound became harder and harder to hide. He stood there, suffering in silence, and not one of them noticed.

The blood stained him, and he smiled.

The scars did not heal, and he smiled.

No one ever heard him cry because he had lost his voice, no one ever saw his tears because they had all dried up, no one ever noticed his pain, because he hid it.

No one ever knew...

No one ever knew, and he smiled

When Fai awoke, he saw Kurogane hovering over him, a scowl on his face, but small traces of worry hid behind his red eyes. Upon seeing the other man awake, he awkwardly stopped leaning and cleared his throat.

As the ninja turned away, Fai touched his pale hand to his 'bleeding chest', finding it far from healed...

But Kurogane saw…

So he smiled.
