Annabeth sighed.

She was alone in the Athena cabin, as it was the first week after everyone left for home. She and another girl, Kelsey, were the only two people who were staying at camp this school year in their cabin.

So there was Annabeth--Kelsey being out with the Demeter kids--sitting on the floor of the Athena cabin, bored out of her mind.

The demigod looked up at the ceiling. It was bare white stone, only littered by a poster of Johnny Depp that another girl had hung up before she left.

Turning towards the cabinet, ready to get herself a Snickers bar, Annabeth's eye caught some dishtowels and dish soap. The girl got up and wiped off her butt-- only to find that there was dirt and crud on it from the floor.

Man, she thought, the kids in our cabin are pigs!

So Annabeth grabbed the towels and soap, ran the towels under some warm water in the bathroom, and put both on the floor. That was when she realized that cleaning was a total waste if you didn't have fun with it.

After thinking for a few moments, she walked over to Kelsey's laptop, flipped it open, and got onto the internet.

Ignoring the pop-up for free online cursors, she opened up her play list and clicked on the very first song she had listed. Quiet at first, she began to sing along.

You're a part-time lover and a full time friend

The monkey on your back is the latest trend

I don't see what everyone can see, in anyone else…but you

She got a little louder and walked back to the rags. She lay both of them out on the floor and put one foot on each.

I'll kiss you on the brain in the shadow of the train

I'll kiss you all starry-eyed, my body swinging from side to side

I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else… but you

Belting out the lyrics, Annabeth slid one foot in front of the other. She then pushed off with her back foot and shot across the floor. One she got her footing, Annabeth could side around the cabin like Kristi Yamaguchi.

The first song ended and was replaced by a slower, sadder song. Annabeth had recently added it after watching a movie with the song on its soundtrack.

I don't know which way I should turn

I'm too afraid of getting burned

When all the wells have come up dry

It's hard to take another try

The teenage demigod slowed down her pace as her recently fast-beating heart decreased to a lull. She hummed quietly to the tune and didn't notice when someone creaked open her door.

But I pick myself up off the floor

And try my best just like I did before

Just say yes…

Just say yes…

Annabeth spun around in a few circles as the mysterious stranger tiptoed over to her.

Every time I take a chance

Hesitation holds me back

I'm finding out who I should be

I want to know the real me

The boy took Annabeth's waist and turned her to face him.

"Percy!" Annabeth exclaimed. Percy grinned. Smiling, Athena's daughter stepped off the sodden rags and placed her hands around his neck.

Just say yes…

Just say yes…

Slowly revolving around the spot, Annabeth grew more comfortable being in Percy's arms. They moved closer together.

The song ended far too quickly in the demigod's opinions. They pulled apart and smiled at each other.

"So, what were you doing with rags on your feet?"
