Prologue
The breeze danced gracefully through the trees, causing the leaves to twirl and move with it. The sun shown brightly in a clear blue sky as it warmed my back. The scent of cherry blossoms glided through the air and I felt it brush by. The sun hanging in the clear blue sky warmed the back of a young looking man as he watched a young woman and then her mother enter the shack in front of him. It was a huge risk being in Japan while Kagome was here but he had to risk it. He had to see her at least once before she went back. Five hundred years had passed for Inuyasha since Naraku had been defeated and the Shikon no Tama was destroyed. Four hundred since Kagome had died from old age. And here he was, in Kagome's era, watching as she made the choice the return to the Feudal Era. It was strange really, to suddenly have a lot of gratitude for oneself. Letting Kagome go was so hard. He wanted to go into the shack right now and show himself to her. His hand gripped the branch he rested on, feeling the bark crack under the pressure. Every part of Inuyasha begged to run in there but he held himself back. Inuyasha needed her more four hundred years ago than he did now.
Suddenly there was the sound of a gasp of sadness and a body collapse. Inuyasha immediately dropped down and entered the rundown building.
"Yasuchi?" He said looking at the woman kneeling at the well.
Said woman looked up from her hunched position and blinked in surprise.
"Inuyasha?" She seemed to whisper with wide tear filled eyes.
The Hanyou gave a small smile in return. "Yeah."
"But that's impossible," She whispered. "The well didn't work until just now and I didn't see you come out."
Her eyes were filled with grief but some of it was pushed to the side with curiosity. Inuyasha looked at her with equal sadness "I came the long way. I've always been here."
The human gathered herself before wiping her face and standing up. "Come inside we can talk over a pot of tea."
They moved wordlessly to the house and Yasuchi sat the man at the table. He looked different from what she remembered. His hair was still long and silver but he had lost his dog ears and the red clothes he used to wear. Buyo purred against his leg, that was covered with blue jeans, and he just scratched it's ear. His blue tank top shifted as he reached down to do so. It wasn't just his looks that changed apparently.
*"So," Yasuchi said as she sat across from him. "How was my daughter?"
The half-demon's eyes dimmed as he looked down into the tea. "Kagome did very well. She became a very powerful priestess, lived a long life and was well loved, by demons and humans alike."
"What about children?" She asked.
"A few. Most of our bloodline faded a long time ago because of the demon wars but some remained. One of them is following in Kagome's footsteps. Do you know about the Ootori companies?"
"Yes. Is that one of them?" Her eyes were wide in surprise.
"Yeah."
"And what about you? What have you been doing?"
"I've mostly been on the road. I own a small company in the America's that I stop and visit from time to time but I mostly use it to blend in with everyone else."
"What about the others?"
"Sango and Miroku got married and had plenty of kids. Their bloodline is very strong still and one of them is as famous as the Ootori's. Shippo is still around and owns his own business and had some children over the years. I'll tell him it's safe to stop by now. He would love to meet you."
Yasuchi smiled happily and pushed her cup to the side. "Please do, I would love to meet my grandson."
"I will." He answered and gave a small smile.
"So, how long are you going to stay?"
Silence filled the room as the half-demon seemed to go deep in thought. "I would like to stay in Japan for a while. I left not long before you were born. I could not take the chance of running into you, or Kagome, until the time lapse was over. Because of the age I seem to be it would be best to be going to school."
"Really?" Yasuchi blinked in surprise. Inuyasha shrugged in response. "What school?"
"Ouran Academy. I want to see what my descendant is like."
"That is a pretty prestigious school. Will you be able to get in?" The woman asked.
Inuyasha smirked at her and jabbed his thumb towards himself. "Don't forget that I have been around for five hundred years. I have gone to school in between that time. I also have the money for it remember? I own a business in the Americas."
"Alright, but always know that you are welcome here." She answered.
"Thank you okaa-san."
