Chapter One

Problem in the TARDIS

"You're being bloody ridiculous!" Rose laughed, pushing the Doctor playfully by the shoulder. He laughed and dug the TARDIS key out of his pocket. "I don't believe you."

"No, I'm serious!" He said. "They really do have giant waterfalls, thousands of miles tall, reaching high into the sky, spilling white wine into the crevasse!"

"I don't believe you." Rose said. The Doctor smiled and slid the key into the lock and turned it.

"Fine then!" He said. "I'll take you. And you can see for yourself, The Doctor never lies." Rose chuckled as he pushed open the door.

He stopped dead in the doorway, his Converse All-Stars squeaking. His face, hundreds of years old by now, turned from lighthearted and jolly to deadly serious in less than a second. Standing in the middle of the TARDIS's main room was a stone statue, a marble angel with its hands covering its face. Rose looked over The Doctor's shoulder and glanced at the door.

"Doctor, what is that?" She asked, brushing a strand of blond hair out of her face. "How did it get in the TARDIS?"

"Rose, back away." He said seriously, not taking his eyes off the statue, like it was the most dangerous thing he had ever seen. "Don't take your eyes off of the statue, Rose." He took two steps back out of the TARDIS, took a final look at the statue, and slammed the door shut with impossible speed. Less than a quarter of a second later, there was an incredibly loud bang from the other side of the TARDIS door. The Doctor, not wasting a second, put on his glasses and started to examine the police box carefully. "No, no, no, no, no!" He muttered to himself. He pulled out his sonic screwdriver and started to do something clever with the police phone inside the door. He kicked the box and started muttering in what Rose assumed was Gaelifreyan. She only caught one word in English; Angels. She pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed a number. After a ring, the person on the other end picked up.

"Jack!" She said. "Hi, it's Rose…Yes, we're in Cardiff! Yes, 21st century. Will you meet us in the square? The Doctor's talking to himself about angels and I'm not sure what…you'll be here? Great."

Less than ten minutes later, a tall man wearing a blue shirt, jeans and a long black coat appeared in the idle of the square. He kissed Rose on the forehead.

"the lovely Rose." Captain Jack Harkness said. "And the magnificent Doctor." He kissed him on the head as well. "Wish we could've met under better circumstances."

"Well…" The Doctor ran his hand through his hair. "It's good to see you, Jack."

"I came as soon as I got Rose's call." HE said. "What's the problem?"

"There's an Angel in the TARDIS." He said. Jack nodded.

"So, yeah, just a bit of a problem then?" Jack said. The Doctor nodded.

"Yeah, just a bit." He said. He ran the sonic screwdriver down the side of the TARDIS and tapped the wood twice. He grinned.
