This takes place before winter solider

It's March 10th.

Steve slowly swung his legs over the side of his bed and sat in silence for a while. He really did not want go into work today. Staying in and watching old cartoons sounded like the best thing to do on March 10th.

After debating with himself for a good five minutes, he reluctantly rose from his comfy bed, and, after finding his gray shirt from boot camp, changed into a comfy outfit. That was one nice thing he could say about his work with the Avengers, everyday but mission days were 'casual Fridays'.

Did you hear that Buck, I'm learning 21st century vocab.

Steve couldn't help but crack a smile as he imagined the responses Bucky would give to that lame statement. The things he would say, if he were here.

His smile dropped. Steve decided to erase his mind of Bucky until he was done with work, and with a quick meal of corn flakes, he jogged off to work.

Work was a bummer. Nothing exciting was happening so Steve took the time to work out and practice sparring with Natasha.

They had stopped for a break and both taking turns at the water fountain when they heard a loud whistle from the side entrance of the gym.

"Hey Fury wants everybody in the lunch room" Clint said with a casual and soft smile.

"Wonder what he wants" Natasha replied in a snarky tone that probably wasn't meant to be sarcastic.

"Well if he's calling everyone into the lunch room it might be a birthday celebration." Steve answered, walking towards Clint.

"Whose birthday is it?" Asked Clint.

Steve knew who's birthday it was but did not answer.

The trio made their way to the lunch room where in the center, like Steve guessed, was a small cake covered in red, white, and blue sprinkles. They stood by the door waiting for the guest of honor to appear so they could sing happy birthday, eat cake, and leave, but Steve noticed that once he had entered everyone had their eyes on him.

"Well," Fury started "Come up here birthday boy."

Steve turned to Natasha, but she gave no aid and only pushed him into the center of the room. Steve saw Coulson arrive, and watched as he stared at the scene with a muddled expression before figuring out what was happening.

"Commander Fury, Steve's birthday isn't today it's-"

Coulson was interrupted by the sudden uproar of everyone singing happy birthday to Steve. Coulson of course was right, it wasn't Steve's birthday, but Steve didn't stop them. He knew they were singing to him this day because when Clint brought in a calendar and asked everyone to circle birthday's, they all watched as he circled the very important March 10th. He wasn't going to tell them, he'll let them figure out on their own.

The song ended and with everyone's cheers Steve blew out the candles for Bucky.

Happy Birthday Buck.
