AN: As the holidays are getting close, I wanted to give a gift to someone who has helped me a lot. I had no money to buy a present, so I decided to use one of my strengths; writing. This oneshot is dedicated to Awesome Rapidash.
Whenever she closed her eyes, the young green haired mermaid could see a raging storm. The winds whipping violently around her, the waves crashing and tossing her every which way, and a steady fall of rain water which made it difficult to see. She remembered how scared she was when she found herself on the shore of a beach.
At that time, Leia couldn't do anything about it. Her injuries made it hard to move, particularly the cuts on her orange and purple tailfin, and the nasty bruise on her chest. She could do nothing when a scientist found her on the beach.
The young mermaid was pretty scared when she met him for the first time. After all, mermaid lore didn't speak too kindly of humans. And yet, despite all of that, the scientist accepted her into his home, to give her time to heal from her injuries before going back to the sea.
Though she had been scared out of her mind, maybe this whole thing was also a blessing in disguise. After all, if she didn't get caught in the horrible storm and washed ashore on the human world, she never would have met Jack. He was a kind young man, who was working on a farm.
The brown haired young man came by pretty much everyday. He usually had some sort of a gift to give her, whether it was a shiny piece of jewelry, or a fish that she could cook and eat for dinner. She wasn't used to getting all of these gifts, and yet she rather liked it.
Jack was also very nice, and was very concerned for her well being. He knew how much the mermaid was homesick, though she did best to hide it sometimes. He did his best to make her as comfortable as possible, even getting some pieces of coral and other stuff from the sea in order to decorate the tub she was currently living in. Just to give it that little touch of home that it didn't have before.
Leia always looked forward to Jack's visits. The fishy girl would listen carefully for footsteps coming into the basement. When she did, she would wait eagerly to see who it was. While there were times where it was that scientist, Daryl, Jack would usually turn up. He would smile sweetly as he handed the mermaid the gift he went to get for her, and they would start talking up a storm of their own.
It was almost like the small gap that was between them had been crossed. Though one was a mermaid, and the other a human, they were very comfortable with one another. Sometimes they would talk about the human world, or the mermaid world. Other times they talked about Jack's farm. It was actually a very interesting subject, since the mermaid didn't know anything about it.
Without Jack around, Leia couldn't help feeling lonely. Sure, there was Daryl, and he was a good friend to her. Yet, her day just seemed to brighten with Jack around.
At the thought of Jack, Leia could feel an incredible warmth in her heart. To her, Jack was more than just a friend. In fact, she was in love with the young farmer.
She always wondered if he felt the same way for her. And one of these days she would find out. For now though, she would close her eyes, imagining Jack and the storm that allowed her to meet him. Her little blessing in disguise.
