A/N: Found this on my computer from a while ago from when I used to write something here and there, but never posted it anywhere. I figured that since I'm posting things now, I might as well give it a shot and put it up.

Disclaimer: I still do not own anything to do with the stories I write.

There were some things Ino knew from the beginning she would never understand. She figured she would never understand Kakashi-senseis' obsession with porn. She knew she would in no way understand how Sakura could endure the Hokages' training program day in and day out. And she knew she definitely would never understand how Guy-sensei and Lee thought they looked amazing in their green jump suits, bowl cuts and disgustingly bushy eyebrows.

Then, there were some things Ino thought she would never understand, but later, she was shown the light. Like when her sometimes-boyfriend Shikamaru tried to tell her that the sky was the perfect shade of blue when looked at from his favorite cloud watching spot. She had looked him square in the face and called him a moron, and explained to him that the sky was sky-blue, and while blue could be different shades, and some blues were better than other blues, sky-blue could not be better than sky-blue just because he was looking at it on the roof of a certain building. And shouldn't he have noticed by now that her eyes were blue so he should tell her that her eyes were the most perfect shade of blue he had ever seen like a good boyfriend would?

His response was, as always, predictable. He rolled his eyes', stuffed his hands into his pockets and 'T'ched' all at the same time. He told her that he would see her later when she wasn't being so troublesome, and slowly ambled away.

In turn, she turned around in a huff, and stormed off intent on finding someone to rant about this newest development to. But, Sakura was busy with training, Hinata was out gathering herbs, and Tenten was away with the rest of Team Guy on a mission. Well, there went her list of girlfriends.

She considered her options of boys to go to. Shio still freaked her out. Kiba was too loud to have a normal conversation with, and Akamaru drooled too much for her liking. Choji, while on her team and a very good friend of hers, would never listen to a word said against his best friend. Even if she wanted, she couldn't go to Naruto, as he had left the village over a year ago to start his training, and hadn't been seen since.

This left her with one option: Go find Shikamaru and pretend she wasn't mad anymore.

She found him where she always did. He was at his favorite cloud watching spot lying down with his arms behind his head. She looked up at the sky, back down at him, and sat down next to him with a sigh. He gave a sigh in response and reached his hand out to take one of hers. He held it there for a beat before bringing it up to his mouth and placing a soft kiss onto it.

It was times like these that she hated him and loved him the most. She hated that he could make her forget why she was mad at him. She hated that he even made her feel stupid for being mad in the first place. She also happened to love him for those same reasons.

She lowered herself down next to him, their hands still entwined. She realized then that he had been right. From here, with Shikamaru by her side, the sky looked just a little bit bluer and a little bit brighter.

She would never tell him he was right.
