A/N: Another piece inspired by Murasaki Shikibu's "Tale of Genji"; there was a note that gave one meaning of the phonemic combination "kikyou" as a type of bluebell sometimes called "Chinese bluebells". The idea of Kikyou covered in bluebells was just too ravishing to pass up. *g* I'm also intending this as a mini-bribe for lynnxlady, to get her to post some more stuff. So, my dear, I am officially bribing you now, and it's even with a (admittedly short and dinky) het drabble! ^_^

"Bluebells"

I first saw you in a field, a spring field with waving green grasses. You stood there, under the sky so blue, your hair swinging gently in the breeze. Your eyes were closed, and you looked unearthly as you walked among the bluebells.

I thought you were a spirit, a goddess, something far beyond this world. You were beautiful, and you shone in the sunlight. I watched you, and my eyes couldn't get enough of you and the blossoms in your hair. You sat in the bluebells, and you looked like a cloud among those flowers. The stems bent easily under your caring hands, and you held them like they were precious gems. Each one turned to a glittering sapphire upon your touch. Each bluebell became sacred to me in that moment, a jewel to be treasured. I treasure them still. I treasure the bluebell that was you - my Kikyou.
