Note: This is my first Supernatural fic although I've been watching since the pilot premiered. Read the story of Esau and Jacob from The Book of Genesis (I believe), the parallels between the brothers and the Winchesters are impressive. The title comes from the story of Jacob and Esau, where it is prophesized that, although Jacob and Esau reconciled their, when the the End of Days arrives, Jacob's descendants will exact revenge on Esau's descendants for a millennia of persecution along the peak of Mount Seir.
Summary: Like Jacob and Esau before them, Sam and Dean are fated by the Biblical conflict of brothers. But Castiel hopes that they can change their fates.
History always repeated itself.
He should know. He had existed since the Dawn of Time.
Two brothers. The Hunter and the Scholar.
Two masters. The Lord and the Devil.
Always the same.
This Hunter claimed to be different. He could stop Sammy, he said. He could, but it wouldn't come to that.
It always came to that.
Always the same.
Once again, the Warrior of the Lord would battle the Minion of the Devil.
This time he hoped it would be different; hoped they would be different.
But he had lost his Faith centuries ago.
