William Brikin had asked Claire Redfield out on a date, and they had gone to a really nice restaurant. William had been acting cold to her the whole evening, and she had gone into the bathroom to dry her tears. Claire had thought that William had asked her out because he liked her, but it hadn't seemed like that at all when they were at the restaurant.
She took a deep breath, and then walked back to the table where William sat. He didn't even look at her when she sat down.
"What are you thinkig about?" Claire asked quietly and looked down at her fingers. She had bought a new beautiful dress especially for this evening, which she had thought was a date. Apparantly, it wasn't.
"Nothing at all, actually." William said. I'm thinking about my plan, but I can't tell her about it...
"Okay..." Claire didn't know what to say. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. William had never been this cold to her before. But they hadn't known each other for a long though.
"So, are you done, and ready to go home?" William asked and stood up.
"Yeah, sure." Claire answered. Up to this moment, Claire had hoped that William would invite her to his apartment, and that he'd be like he usually was, like the young scientist she had fallen in love with a few weeks ago.
They walked to William's car, without saying anything more.
When they got to Claire's apartment, William got out of the car too, and locked the doors. Claire just stood there, shocked.
"I thought you'd just drop me off here, and then get to your own apartment." She said, and he walked up to her.
"I wanted to follow you to your door, make sure that you get home safely." William said. He sounded irritated. "Come on, now."
She followed him up the stairs, to her apartment. When she'd unlocked the door, and was about to open it, William said "Close your eyes, Claire, and keep them closed until I tell you to look."
She did as he told her, and William opened the door, leading Claire into the hallway. He closed the door behind them.
"You can open your eyes now." William said.
What Claire saw when she opened her eyes was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. There were beautiful red roses scattered everywhere, and they were surrounded by red lit candles.
"Aw, William..." Claire said, and a tear trickled down her face. She turned around, seeing William stanting dwn on one knee, with a beautiful ring in his hand.
"Claire, will you marry me?"
