Water, Earth, Fire, Air. Long ago the four nations lived in harmony and then, the fire nation attacked. The war lasted for a hundred years before being stopped by the Avatar at the time, Aang. But you already know that story.
What you don't know is that there was an evil Avatar over one cycle after him. This Avatar was named Peng. He figured that if one individual could have the ability to bend all four elements, then that should make them the ruler of the four of the nations gathered together to stop him. They managed to kill him while he was in the Avatar state, putting an end to the Avatar cycle.
After the cycle had been ended, the Water tribes all gathered together and agreed that they would all be safest if they lived in their element, under the water. They created a kingdom of their own and named it Atlantis. Thanks to the help of the Spirits, the people of Atlantis were able to breath under water.
With the end of the Avatar came new abilities and changes. Fire could now control where the light around them landed, making it seem as if they were moving the shadows even though they weren't. The water in the air could now be moved to make it seem as if people and objects disappear. All the Earth benders worked together to change the size of the planet, making it just slightly bigger and adding more land on the surface.
Almost two thousand years later, there was a Fire Bender who, for some unknown reason, hated all benders who could control anything other than fire. He started a war that lasted six years before it was put to an end. All bending was made illegal after that. There were some people who still used their abilities in secret, though. This is where our story begins.

Sorry this chapter is so short. This is basically to give you information on what's happened between the ending of TLA and the present in the story. I have no plot planed for this story so far, just a basic idea of who is and isn't a bender. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see me do in this story, let me know.
