It was a morning in December and the sun was just starting to shine upon the snow making it gleam in a hundred different colours.

Hermione made her way through the snow with a book under her arm. She couldn't focus in the dorm, all the first years were awake and running around. Her usual favourite sanctuary, the library, couldn't help her either, Ron and Harry were there and she didn't feel like talking to them at the moment. She was often arguing with them these days, especially Ron.

She found a bench and sat down, even though it was freezing she preferred this to being near Ron, she thought bitterly.

She'd only read two pages when the book suddenly flew out of her hands "Hmm transfiguration. Interesting" it was Fred "Give it back!" she almost screamed it and launched for the book, but he was too quick "Uhuh" he said teasingly, with a stupid smile upon his face "It's a far to beautiful day to be reading" "No it's not" she said offended and tried again to get the book. She jumped up and tried to reach it, but he held it above his head. He was taller than her, but she tried to jump again and again. He just laughed and moved backwards. Suddenly he trod in a hole hidden in the snow, Hermione leaning against him and making the final push, they fell. In a whirl of dressrobes and hair they ended up lying in the snow.

"You moron! Now look what you've done! I'm all wet and look at my hair," she said fighting to get herself separated from his dressrobes and getting up at the same time. He looked at her as she started to cry, his face growing worried "Hey. 'Mione what's wrong?" he asked concerned, as he pulled himself into a sitting position and carefully stroke her hair from her face. "N-nothing" she sobbed, he looked at her, lifting his eyebrows "All right it's your brother, he's saying I'm an insufferable know-it-all. Harry's always mad at me for no reason. And it's Malfoy too, he's calling me a mudblood and he's always after me." "'Mione… Look at me" she lifted her tear wedded face and looked him in the eyes "Don't let those prats get you down" she tried to smile at him, but just ended up crying harder.

Fred looked at her again, and then jumped to his feet "Look what I can do" and then, with her transfigurationbook on his head, he started doing an odd almost Luna-like dance. He didn't know weather Hermionie's curious look and half-smiling at him, was because he improved her mood or she just found that he was so stupid, that she tried to make the embarrassment less awkward, and he didn't care, as long as it made her smile.

Hermione looked as Fred trod in the hole he had stumbled in the moment before. He had been so focused on making her laugh, that he'd forgotten all about it. He fell once again, this time upon Hermione "Oh sorry 'Mione" at first he thought he'd make he cry again, and started to lift himself away from her, but then, as he looked at her, he saw that she was choking in laughter. He started laughing too, and she started to fight to get him off her, but after a moment he stopped and looked her in the beautiful brown eyes, he could feel her soft hair and her tiny body. She slowly stopped fighting and was lying quite still, looking back at him. He slowly lowered his face and kissed her.

This was the moment Hermione thought of when she saw his dead, lifeless body. When she saw the ghost of a smile upon his face, that would never smile again. Their first kiss.

That was it ^^ hope you enjoyed it, please comment, I'm constantly trying to improve my writing ^^
