Jane, in her two piece swimsuit, lay back on the beach towel and smiled as her body was warmed by the tropical sun. She adjusted her sunglasses and looked over to Loki who was in full Asgardian leather.
"I know the Frost Giant in you is melting," Jane spoke as she closed her eyes and turned her face back to the sun.
"Why did you want to come to this bloody island". Loki asked as he studied the beach and water, "It's unbearably hot here."
"Take your clothes off and enjoy the sun. I have sunscreen. Don't know how it will work on the magic, but it works on Human skin."
"I have no fear of the sun. It's the heat," Loki grumbled as he finally magically exchanged his Asgardian leathers for a sleek pair of swim trunks.
Jane caught the faint smell of magic in the air and turned to look at him, "Isn't that better?"
"Not really."
"You know," She turned onto her stomach, "I could use some sunscreen, and I can't really reach so..."
Loki cast a glance at the bare skin of her back then back to her face, "When you said you wished to take a holiday, I had envisioned taking you to Alfhiem or maybe even Vanaheim. Staying on Earth was not even close to my idea."
She propped herself on her elbows and looked to him, "I didn't say I wished to take a holiday. I said since it's the holiday season, we should get away for a while. You said anywhere I wished. So we're here. Hush fussing."
He cast an offended glare at her, "Hush fussing?"
"In other words, I'm about two words from being pissed off. Stop while you are ahead."
Loki nodded silently and looked back to the ocean.
Jane cleared her throat.
He took his time looking back to her, "Yes?"
"Sunscreen? On my back. Please and thank you."
Jane moved her arms to act as pillows for her head as she lay back down expectantly.
After a few moments passed with no sunscreen applied to her back, Jane sat up and tossed her sunglasses aside, "You used magic, didn't you?"
Loki simply continued silently staring at the rolling waves in front of him.
"If I get sunburned, you're going to have to pamper me," She warned before turning back to her stomach.
He snorted.
Jane kept her eyes closed. If she looked at him, this could become a full fledged argument. Then it would become something all together different. There was still time for all of that. Later.
She lay there for a while, enjoying the warmth of the sun. The crashing waves and the sounds of water birds pulled her into the most dreamy sense of peace. It was, then, it occurred to her that Loki hadn't spoken a word. Unusual for him.
She propped herself up and looked around to find Loki in full Jotun blue. She sat up quickly and reached out to him, "Loki? Are you too hot? Oh god," She panicked as she started to scramble for her phone.
Loki captured her wrist and tugged her into his arms, "I am quite alright. But since this abominable heat has made me resort to desperate measures in order to cool off, I do believe you will be the one pampering me."
And so their (not) argument finally began.
