Alone

Leah is finally alone. She looks around her new apartment, letting the complete silence take her in.

She is finally free. Free of hearing her mom sob when she thought Leah wasn't listening, free of hiding her own sobs from her family.

But as Leah looks around again, she can't help but feel like she's missing something. She can't figure out what, though.

It's not food; she has plenty of that. It's not her framed picture of her dad; that's hanging on a wall in her bedroom.

Then the doorbell rings. Leah answers it, and finds herself looking at…Jacob Black? "Hey Leah," Jacob says, grinning sheepishly at her.

"Hey Jake," Leah says.

The realization sweeps over her after a minute. Jacob is what she was missing.
