Smile

By: Riley

SummaryA smile can really make your day. BarryCade/Barry/OC fluff

Their relationship that relies on passing glances and smiles; coming to and from the CCPD and STARLabs. With saving each other from Captain Singh's wrath when he inexplicably came to work in bad mood. With lunch breaks to the park and coming up with excuses as to why they need to leave when a metahuman attacked.

To taps on the wrong shoulder and laughing when the other continues to fall for it. To random, gentle touches and taking turns paying for the bill at Jitters and nearby cafés and restaurants. To shoulders slept on from exhaustion after fighting said metahumans to eye contact when passing by each other's office.

Cadence wasn't entirely sure how it had started; though knowing her she made a flirty comment somewhere while being friendly. It wasn't that she didn't notice Barry right away, the tingling sensation that had moved up the hands they shook when first meeting. It really began with words of encouragement and friendly, understanding smiles of being metahumans surrounded by 'normal' humans.

As things progressed and more and more smiles were exchanged they found themselves sitting next to each other rather than across from each other when stopping at Jitters for coffee or working in STAR Labs. Their sparring in STAR Labs becoming mini competitions to see who had the better powers and who was the better hero; smiles given when one won over the other. When grasping each other's hand to be pulled back to their feet to start over again.

It wasn't a surprise when the smiles started to mean something more; to mean 'How are you today?', 'Do you want to get something to eat?', 'Do you have time to hang out?', 'Do you mind if we go here?', 'Are you free to go out tonight?'.

And with each smile Cadence felt her loneliness start to drift away, the dark cloud that followed her from the past decisions she made that followed from Metropolis to Central City dissipating. With each smile she understood more and more how Barry Allen who masqueraded as the Flash came to be a beacon of hope for Central City and for her as well.

A/N: So I'm always open for suggestions for some other one-shot ideas for BarrCade, if they're not used for a one-shot idea then they'll probably find a way into Fuel to the Fire or When We Collide Sparks Fly. So feel free.

Otherwise please review and let me know what you think of this one. I'd love to hear it and it motivates me to write more.

Cheers,
