Sofia the First: Mentor Appreciation Day
"Hey Wormwood." Sofia whispered as she walked into Cedric's Workshop carrying a breakfast tray. The raven eyed the tray quizzically as he began to wonder what the special occasion was. He had to smirk; the raven already knew who the tray was for. Apparently, the sorcerer was going to get the surprise of his life!
As the princess looked around the empty Workshop she asked Wormwood where Cedric was. "He's asleep in his room."Sofia beamed with a slight giggle. "I'll go surprise him." She said in excited whisper and tiptoed to the sorcerer's room. When Sofia neared the door she could hear snoring, this made the girl giggle even more!
Once the little apprentice was inside she sat the tray on the nightstand gently then climbed on top of the bed. When she got a good look at her sleeping friend she saw that he wore a green shirt that was similar to his day shirts but what surprised the girl more was that he wasn't where his gloves. This seemed out of the ordinary to the girl, she always saw him with his gloves on.
After deciding not to wait any longer she yelled "Happy Mentor Appreciation Day Mr. Cedric!" Cedric jolted up and looked up to find his favorite princess sitting in front of him.
The sorcerer didn't expect to find the youngest princess here this morning. In fact, this had be one of the most shocking and scary surprises she had set up for him. "What are you doing here Sofia?" he asked smirking and raising an eyebrow,
"Aw, you mean I can't I come in here and surprise you on one of your special days?" The princess made a pout. Cedric kept his smirk as he crossed his arms saying "What's the occasion?" The auburn haired girl giggled at his silliness.
From out of nowhere she hugged him. "Well, you are my mentor and today is Teacher Appreciation Day so I brought up a breakfast tray for you on your special day." She said pointing at the awaiting breakfast. Cedric looked at the tray and saw pancakes with maple syrup, eggs, a biscuit and of course a cup of his favorite coffee.
All that food looked pretty delicious; he wondered if Sofia made that. He hoped she did. Sofia sat the tray on top of him and waited for him to take a bit of his breakfast. "I guess you made this right?" Cedric asked after taking a bit of the pancakes.
"Yep, I cooked it with a little supervision from Chef Andre." She answered becoming glad that he was enjoying his breakfast.
After finishing his breakfast he hugged the girl and thanked her, "You're quite the cook; maybe you ought to surprise your mother with this good cooking since Mother's Day is coming." Sofia shrugged "Maybe, I'm not sure what are you planning for your mom?"
Cedric rolled his eyes. "On Mother's Day, I get to spend the Day I spend the day with both my mother and my sister, sometimes my sister and I end up in a fight which always ruins mother's day. It makes me wish I was an only child so that it could just be me and her."
Sofia told him she felt the same way last year. "I realized then mom needed to be with all her children, not just me."
After gathering the tray she made her way to the door. "Well, I hope you enjoy your day off Mr. Cedric, I got to get to school so my friends and I can surprise our teacher with their gifts." She then left the sorcerer for the day.
A/N: I had looked up on the Internet that in the U.S Teacher Appreciation Day is actually the first week of May and last year I learned my birthday was Nurses' Day crazy huh? This story didn't exactly go as I planned. I was planning for the twins, Desmond, Vivian and Sofia surprise to Cedric with something at school but I couldn't figure out how they would do it so I just stuck with Mentor and Apprentice moment.
