Malik's head shot up when he heard a soft thump in the main room of the bureau. Something was wrong; it was too soon for Altaïr to be finished with his latest mission. If he was already back complications must have arisen forcing him to hide. Malik rose from his chair and walked into the larger room, but didn't see a trace of the assassin. He turned to go back to his work when movement in the corner caught his eye.
He drew his long sword and crept his way towards the cushions. He was surprised to find a pile of white robes. Using the tip of his sword to move them he saw a boy, probably only ten years of age, curled tightly around a yellow glowing ball. The glow faded and the boy relaxed somewhat into what seemed to be a deep sleep. Malik took this time to look over the boy. He was wounded. A nasty looking cut ran from his shoulder almost to his elbow and it appeared as if an arrow had grazed his cheek. He could also see dried blood on the opposite side of the boy's head. Malik carefully pulled the rest of the robe away to search for any other injuries that would need treatment. The boy had scars along his entire body. Many were from fighting but one boy should not have this amount at his age. Malik shook his head. Questions would be asked later, right now this boy needed attention.
Malik left and came back with a bowl of hot water and bandages. He grabbed the boys arm and attempted to pull it away from the ball, but the boy's eyes snapped open and he recoiled as far as he could away from Malik's touch. The boy's eyes went wide with recognition.
"Malik?"

Well there goes nothing... I had a plot bunny in the middle of rowing practice and it refused to leave unless I did something about it. This is going to be the first fanfiction I've ever put up for anyone to see O.O I'm nervous about my writing but if just one person enjoys it I'll be happy. Very breif chapter because I want it to be an introduction. I'm suprised I haven't seen anyone else do a fic like this (or they did and I just haven't found it). Hopefully I won't make the characters too OOC. This is unBetad so all mistakes are my own darn fault.
