Hello! This is the prologue to a Jack x Reader fanfiction I'm starting, but I promise you won't be a Mary-Sue! Some chapters might be a bit sad though. The idea came to me when I was walking throught the typical British weather. Please read and review- thank you! ~Insidia

Spiralling softly from the heavens came clouds of cold; each with a unique design beheld to only itself and never to be repeated. These divine formations never seemed to have been instructed in their actions but instead willingly escape from the confines of the sky to flurry down in every which way, settling on surfaces where they lay for mere seconds before being covered and joined the throng in a snowbank. Some unlucky ones reached puddles of water where they barely had the chance to land before dissipating to join their sisters and brothers in the stirring sea of cold.

All of this was reflected greatly upon by a young child no older than four, whose wide orbs gazed intently at the scene, her shimmering (h/c) hair swaying in the wind and slowly turning white with those snowflakes that were lucky enough to reach as pale as marble with rose petals for lips- she was the picture of innocent beauty No noises did she make when one lightly tipped onto her nose, instead, her attention shifted to the house across the road where her neighbors were merrily piling into thier car and pulling away from the curb.

The steady hum of the engine seemed to rouse her from the peaceful state; she stood, shaking off the loose clusters of snow from her threadbare woolen jumper and made her way to the gate of a ramshackle building that looked slightly condemned. It creaked slightly.

Before she turned to leave, her eyes cast a sorrowful look across the street. Hands shaking, she reached for the doorknob and disappeared inside.

Atop a lamppost perched a boy who regarded this enactment with curiosity. His fingers caressed the knarled wooden staff that he carried. His azure eyes also swept the area. Snowy locks dancing, the wind carried him up into the air as he murmured something.

'Wind, take me home.'
