Chapter 1

(Bella's POV)

Preface:

I've never been lucky in love. Not in my whole life. I'm 21 now and have only had 2 boyfriends in my whole life, so it was time to try the last resort. Match makers. Match makers was a dating place where you write down your likes and dislikes then they match you up with someone. Simple right? In my case though it was far from it...

I headed out of Starbucks, esspresso in hand, and headed to Forks High School. Pushing passed a few people, I walked hurriedly knowing that i might be late.

"Excuse me...excuse me, sorry," I told the people that i pushed passed as they yelled at me. I kept my head down as I advanced through more crowds of people. The shops around me became a blury - I didn't know I was walking that fast. As a teacher you were expected to be punctual and on time which I wouldn't be at this pace. I quickened my pace. Suddenly, I caught my foot on the bumpy pavement and fell head first onto the floor. Or at least, I thought I was going to fall but before I hit the ground I felt a pair of strong, cool hands around me. I had shut my eyes and daren't open them. Then came a velvety voice that calmed me.

"Are you alright?" The voice asked, "can you look at me?"
It was strange but as he was talking my eyes fluttered open. And there, straight above me, was a pair of jade green eyes staring at me. They looked concerned but at the same time calm. It was a man, it wasn't hard to find that out, his hair was bronzed and tousseled, his cheek bones sculptured perfectly.

"That could have been nasty," slowly the man helped me up. I stood up wearily and brushed my black trousers and sapphire blue blouse.

"Thanks, but I really should be going," I stared into those green, dazzling eyes.

"It's okay and so should I. I, umm....good bye," with that he turned away and headed in the oppisite direction.

"Wait!" I called, remembering that the stranger never told me his name, "you didn't tell me your -" But it was too late, he wasn't close enough to hear. All I saw now of him was the back of his bronze hair, his black tailored suit and a briefcase that was held in his hands. I quickly glanced at my watch and began rushing again to Forks High.

"Here," my friend Tanya handed me a leaflet. Tanya was a teacher here at Forks High School and we were discussing the fact that I had been single for...well, a long time in the staffroom, " just look at it, at least. It helped me find my boyfriend."
I took the pamflet and glanced at the front cover. 'Match Makers - meet your perfect match' it read. "Really Tanya?" I asked, my eyebrow raised, "I don't think I'm up for it. Thanks."

"Oh go on, just fill in the form an give it in," Tanya protested taking a sip from her mug.

"Well," I considered it for a while. It might be fun - I guess and who knows, maybe I will find my perfect match, "fine."

"Good," Tanya smiled. Sometimes she was so stubborn.
