Prologue

Holly J's essence followed him into the cottage on top of the quaint hill. She wondered if he would actually consider helping her, she had been so cruel back when she was alive. A hush fell over her presence as she watched him approach the dresser on which her note lay.

Declan quickly glanced over his shoulder before entering the cottage. He needed to get away for a bit, and this was always where he went. "That's weird." He said aloud to himself as he saw one single sheet of paper laying on top of the antique dresser on the inside of the cottage. His eyes grew wide and he felt a familiar chill as he read.

Declan.

I know you may be thinking, "What is this?" or, "This absolutely isn't true."

But it is.

You must remember me.

This is a cry for help, a desperate plea for forgiveness.

Right now I have no other options.

I need your help, Declan.

You're the only one.

I'm dead, but I've been given a second chance.

You have to help me.

Declan's eyes filled with tears as he stopped reading the note for a second. He looked up into the mirror and saw a fast image of the girl he once knew, but then it faded away. When he looked back down he saw another note, the first now gone.

I always won't appear.

Only when you want to see me is when I will reveal myself to you.

The question is my dear, do you choose to help me?

Or will you forget me forever.

I hope you make the right choice.

I'm always here, Declan.

I've always been here.

Declan looked back in the mirror, and saw with his own eyes a flowy figure standing behind him. "Hello Holly J." He whispered.

Holly J's heart flipped when she knew Declan had seen her. She bit her lip, and gave a faint smile, mouthing two words. "Thank you."

Declan let out a sigh, and let a few tears roll down his cheek before replying, "Holly J I want to help. I want you back with me. Tell me everything I need to do." He looked at Holly J in the mirror, his heart yearning for her presence all the time again.

Holly J looked at Declan and nodded, knowing what she needed to do. She turned in a whoosh, and gave one final look back to Declan before returning from where she came.

Declan's face went blank as he saw Holly J leave the mirror. When he let out a sigh and looked down, he saw one final note and it read,

Thank you Declan.

I promise you won't regret your decision.

Meet me back here, tomorrow evening at 6 o'clock.

I'll have instructions on what we have to do.

These are my only words to you,

Keep me in your mind,

and in your heart.

I'm slowly disappearing,

But not forever.
