Hi, I'm S.C., the author of this drabble.
I wrote this last night at about 1am after watching the hallway apology scene with Kurt and Karofsky for the thousandth time. This little scene takes place about a week after that.
Enjoy!
"Dave… David!" Kurt called at the jock as he passed in the crowded hall way. Dave trudged on, but Kurt was determined to get his attention. His Doc Martins pitter pattered on the red and white tile floor as he ran to catch up. "David Karofsky if you do not stop and talk to me I'll-" A forceful hand pulled the small brunette into the locker room, and Kurt followed in a stunned silence.
"What do you want Hummel?" Dave asked, fiddling with the lock on his locker. Kurt took residence on the wooden bench in front of him, intently watching the larger boy's every move.
"It's been a week and you haven't talked to me and-"
"What's your point, huh?" He snapped, ripping the silver lock off the locker and jamming it into his pocket. He started to rummage through his belongings to keep calm. There was nothing more in the world he would have enjoyed then storming out that very second, but he stayed for Kurt. They had just made amends a few days prior and he was not about to screw that up.
"Are mad at me David?" Kurt asked, looking up at the other boy with big, wondering eyes. Dave kept doing what he was doing, and didn't answer so Kurt got up and leaned against the neighboring locker. "You can tell me if you are. I won't be mad."
Clothes were being furiously shoved into a gym bag when he stopped to look at Kurt. "It's fucking dumb, so no."
"I promise I'll sit and listen. Pinkie promise." The smaller boy took Dave's hand and latched their pinkies together causing Dave to blush instantly. He let go of Kurt's pinkie and resumed his work.
"Okay… fine… After French class last week you promised to wait for me, so I could walk you to your locker. You didn't wait for me, you left." Dave felt stupid admitting it out loud, and his face flashed to a shade of fire red. Kurt let his fingers press into his temples.
"Oh." There was a long pause before Kurt started to talk again. "Sorry I was-" The jock became angry, slamming his locker shut.
"Was meeting up with Blaine. Yeah, I know. Running around and getting ready for prom and crap."
Kurt threw his arms around him and hugged him tightly as he realized how upset Dave was. "Hey, listen. You still matter to me Dave, and I will always be here for you. I plan to keep you around for a while."
"Whatever." He mumbled, burying his face into Kurt's shoulder. That little moment meant the world to Dave, and even though he wanted to stay like that forever, he let go quickly and walked Kurt off to French class.
