Sokka couldn't help but feel powerless next to his girlfriend suki. She was so much stronger than he was. No matter how hard he tried to feel like a man around her, she always found a way to gain the upper hand. He just wanted to feel like he could protect her no matter what.
He gazed at her as she prounced across the practice field with the other kioshi warriors. She was fierce, strong, beautiful. And despite his jealousy at her dominance, he loved her. The two had been through everything together; facing death nearly every day, helping each other escape from dangerous situations. He knew, with everything they had been through, they would be together for the rest of their lives.
He just hoped he didn't feel like this for the rest of his life.
Later that afternoon, after Suki had finished her practice, Sokka whisked her away on a walk along the island. The sun was just touching the glittering water; it was a beautiful afternoon. Almost as beautiful as she was. He loved her when she was like this; no makeup, no warrior clothing. She was just… Suki.
He held her hand warmly as they walked, giving it gentle squeezes every now and then. He watched as a thin smile spread across her lips. When she smiled, he couldn't help but smile, too.
He wasn't quite sure where they were headed to, but he was relishing in the silence the two were enjoying. He never wanted the afternoon to end.
Finally, they reached the edge of the beach where the rocks stood as a barrier to the other side. He picked her up swiftly and sat her down next to him on a flat rock. The motion made him feel a little bit better.
As the sun fell down into the sea, he stroked her face with his fingers and gazed into her gorgeous green eyes, until finally he closed his eyes and leaned into her, kissing her gently. His heart still gave leaps when he felt her kiss him back. She was so gentle in this way. He pulled her close to him and held her like that as they kissed passionately until evening fell.
She fell asleep in his arms, and he gently carried her back to the house, laying her gently on her bed, covering her with a thin blanket. He kissed her forehead and walked out of the room, taking one last look back at his beautiful warrior.
